K31/GP 11 question

OUCH!........................That's gotta hurt.

I usually take 40 rounds with me to the range. Shoot maybe 20 of them. I don't make the trip to the range with less that 5 rifles at a time, so spread my shooting out over different rifles all the time.
My favorite day is "Milsurp Day".

Apologies - a slip of the tentacle there. I meant 45%....it's now Can$115.00 per C and only sold face-to-face, like any ammunition in UK. Fine, if you live near the dealer, but a bummer if you don't. Mind you, gas has gone way down in the last few weeks, it's only ten bucks a gallon now....

Well, If I didn't shoot her today, might as well photograph her before getting socked and put in the dark...

That's only $2.20 per liter, what a bargain?

That is one of the new polymer stripper clips, correct? Do they work well? I am thinking of buying a few. The original waxed cardboard ones are being sold as such a ridiculous price on ebay or other...

I have both the original version and the plastic version. Both are fantastic. The only slight flaw with the plastic ones is that they are a bit of a tight fit into the action length wise simply due to the plastic being thicker than the cardboard. They still fit fine, just need to be directly in line with the receiver rather than the originals where there was a bit more wiggle room to get them in.

Very nice. My stock has a lot more dings, still shoots like a laser though. What year is yours? Mine's 1946.

1952 I believe, a pristine jem that I pulled out of the lot about three years ago when these were really fresh on the market.

Canadian Tire has Prvi for $22 a box, cheaper even than 308, 30/06 etc. Seems pretty decent to me. Nice brass for reloading too. The GP 11 is stupid expensive there though, $100 cheaper per case at WSS.

The Prvi ammo is worth buying to shoot and reuse the cases when you consider that the same brand of empty brass is almost 80 cents each.

It sure beats reloading Berdan primed cases or finding .284 Winchester brass to resize.

When I bought my case of GP11 two years ago at that CT I paid $350...I think.
For about the last year WSS has been selling it for what...$300?
Originally, that price was part of their K31+GP11 combo deal for $600. (Savings of $50 as the ammo price originally was also $350, and the rifle was $300)
Their supply looks low now though. I should really buy up a bunch so I can easily shoot this calibre in the coming decades ahead. I want to be in my 50's and able to shoot my Swiss.

Corwin had some poly loaders too.
I haven't opened my latest case of 1979 ammo to see if it's waxed, but my 1992 stuff is certainly not waxed.
Surplus is always so fascinating.

Last time I was at WSS they had 71 cases in stock 299.99, (so ya, 300 )

Thanks for the feedback... I will give them a try.

sometimes I shoot more than you guys... :)

I have almost 2 cases of GP11, and it shoots great. I also have 160 rounds of Prvi and its as good, at least in my rifle. I have been reloading and the Prvi 174 grn bullets are pretty damn close to the GP11.

one of those over 37grns of IMR4064 in a properly sized GP11 case with a Tula primer produces tighter groups than the GP11. I did seat them using Pierres reccomendations about how to obtain COAL for YOUR rifle. I suspect I can tighten them up a bit more.

I swear 4064 is the Rodney Dangerfield of rifle powder, people rave about all kinds of different powder, but you rarely hear anything about 4064, and yet it works so well and produces great accuracy in all the cartridges I've used it in.

I go along with that opinion. I shoot it in five different rifle calibers, although they are all around .30 cal - all with successful results.

The PPU bullet, which I have stockpiled, has an exposed lead base, which I don't overly care for, but it soes shoot pretty well in both of my Swiss guns. GP11 still shoots better, though, when some rich bugger turns up on the range with a few to spare....
