Husqvarna Sporting Rifles #### - ALL MODELS!!!

Well,
You can find pictures of a lot of models in the first pages of this thread.

As per why yours was modified, that's easy to spot, the butt (and, actually, the whole stock) is always a one piece on HVA stocks, unless it was midifed (excluding the Hellstock and the 456/458 models). The Std is the most common model and does not have any high comb and no cheekpiece either.

There are three basic "barreled actions" ;

1600 - This is the shorter barreled action, barrel being 520mm long

1640 - This is the most common configuration - 600mm barrel and also the 560mm versions

1651 - Only made in .358 NM, 660mm barrel.

Then, you have the stock style (this was posted many times in the past);

Standard = low comb, schnabel, no checkering on the forend
"K" (Konkurrensskäl) = Sandblasted / matte metal finish, same stock as the Std, but no checkering at all, walnut and beech.
MC = Monte-Carlo comb stock with cheek piece, oiled (early) or very shiny plastic varnish (late), french pattern checkering (late) and round plastic (early) or squarish rosewood (late) forend cap
Special = Like the MC Model, but usually have an adjustable trigger
Lyx = Schannabel, cheek piece, highly figured quality walnut, checkering on both pistol grip and forend
H (Hellstock) = Low comb stock, no cheekpiece, fullstock configuration

Then, in America, the equivalent models were;

Std = none.
3000 (Crown Grade and Presentation) / 6000 (Imperial Custom) - 600mm barrel, Monte Carlo comb stock with cheek piece, oiled (early) or very shiny plastic varnish (late), french pattern checkering (late) and round plastic (early) or squarish rosewood (late) forend cap
The 3100 is the same rifle but without the high Monte Carlo comb

7000 (Imperial) - High comb (MC) butt with cheek piece, Schannabel, highly figured quality walnut, checkering on both pistol grip and forend, adjustable trigger

4100 - 520mm barrel, schnabel forend, forend checkering, low comb stock with cheekpiece (pretty much the same as Swedish Lyx model)
4000 - Same thing, but with Monte Carlo High Comb.

456 / 458 - version of the same rifle, 456 is the full stock with forend checkering and low comb and cheekpiece, while 458 is the exact same with high Monte Carlo comb and cheekpiece

and the model 5000 or "Husky" which is an American only economy model, 560mm barrel, MC butt forend checkering, schnabel forend.

There are also sight differences betwrrn the high end and the lower end models, and some models were not treated here, only the most common ones.

Actually, it wasn't done by HVA, it was done by a stockmaker or a gunsmith (but they have both in Sweden). Companies like Folke Dahlberg made such modifications almost on a dayly basis.

Sorry, buddy, no idea where you can get such a mount.

I don't want to bastertiz mine. It's all numbers matching. So a scout mount would be prime.

Unless there is a remake of a scope mount out there?

Baribal, let me pick your brain a lil'. I'm trying to narrow down my choice for a scope on that 1640 with the high comb (which was obviously gained by slicing off the top of the stock and then placing a spacer, with the top half placed on top of the spacer. The grain on both top and bottom side of the stock matches above and below the spacer). Here's where I am now; a Weaver 2-10x42 Super Slam or Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40. The price is fairly close, $280 shipped on the Weaver and $320 shipped on the Zeiss Any thoughts on these two scopes, and which would you prefer? I plan on using Weaver bases and Warne Maxima QD low rings. Thanks for any help or advice/suggestions, etc.

Well,
I personally would prefer the Zeiss scope, but I doubt low scope rings will do it. Better check clearence / height before ordering.

Yeah, low rings might be too close. I do have a spare pair of Warne Maxima QD medium rings. It would probably be prudent to try those first. With the Weaver base measuring about 1/4" (.222" I believe), there should be plenty clearance as the medium Maxima rings measure .375 from top of base to inside bottom of the ring. That would be nice if the medium height rings work out. That money could go towards a Levy sling. :)

That Zeiss seems like a good scope for that price. I've been leaning that way too. Thanks for the advice Baribal.

Ordered this girl from Tradex, should have it later this week.....I'm a fan of the '96 actions, this one looked pretty clean and done up right and ready to go.
8x57 with a K4-1 Weaver. I still have a few boxes of SB 196gr SPCE which shoot great in a Falun '96 lightweight sporter I have...kicks like a bastard though lol

488XX is a 1944 vintage, model 648 (M38). Technically HVA did not use the m96 actions for their sporting rifle as the M96 have a straight bolt handle.
The early models M46-46A and 46B used M94 actions (from CG stock) and the later models were of their production of M38 and later they used "commercial" M38, means those with the solid left action wall.
