Forgot how much fun & accuracy this combination delivers, hands down still one of the best mass produced .338LM rifles.

My attempt at being artsy !!

That vintage green as always been a favorite of mine on those TRG.

I have to ask though - how in god's world do you shoot with rings so high?!! I'm trying to figure out how you can physically set up being it and look through the scope and it's not working out at all!

Beauty rifle!!! I let one pass at our local cabelas in .338 that was on clearance for 3200$ - I'm a dumbass!!!

I ask the same Q about the rings and the height....

Works for me personally / not saying it would for you

Pop up the spring loaded cheek piece on the factory folder / not saying it's perfect - but those are the rings I had to contend with

If you're comfortable with it, that's all that matters....

If you're ever looking for a good set of low rings for a low cost, millett tactical low's on amazon are good. You should likely lap them, but they're good and solid and only about 50$.

Do you like your BORS??? Do you think it was worth it??

Again, nice damn gun!!!

Ugh, what's the point of a trg, sb scope and barrett bors if you are going to cheap out on rings? Especially in a 338 i would go for highend rings(Spuhur) to match the high end rifle!

I don't disagree with you at all.....just saying that there are lower cost options.

My low Millets held my scope just fine for the .118" group I posted on one of my other threads. I have ATRS rings waiting for my NF to arrive (Jo-Brook, are you listening?), but the Millet's have been good too.

I slapped $20 China rings on my S3/TRG22 cause I had them and wanted to shoot while shopping for better rings. That cheap piece of aluminium and metal bolt worked so well after 2 yrs still on the rifle. Someone at the range commented nice scope, ring and rifle to which I reply CHEAP rings.

Once again it begs the question, My cheap rings are working great, do they need to be changed? Any risk? After all just a chunk of alum and metal bolt.

PS. Lapped the rings, verify alignment with Wheeler set. Scope at center setting was almost POA.

Gadget, Could I bother you for the max length a loaded round could be seated out to and still fit in the mag?

Sorry wrong person to ask - I only shoot factory ammo - maybe one of the other learned gentleman can step in!!

Your question is good, and I wonder the same thing myself.

I've been running 3 screw tactical Millet's for 3 years, with very good results. Lapping is a good thing on lower cost rings if both aren't cut from the same block. No loosening, no crushed scopes, no loss of zero or accuracy on any of mine. Having said that, I now have ATRS rings waiting for my ATACR, a NEAR from my S&B, and was considering a SPUHR for my S&B, but I don't think I NEEDED them. The SPUHR is just SO DAMN COOL THOUGH!!!! The NEAR is already tied to the S&B, so I left them as soulmates.

I've asked some people that I respect and trust about "why NF rings" or "why XX rings" are so much better. The answer I got went something like this: "Is your Mercedes better than a Honda?"..... some days I don't think my Mercedes is any better than a Honda. Better than a Kia, yes, but a Honda....hmmmmm. It's prettier, but it's likely not "better".

Nice rifle! How is the recoil with the folding stock? I fired a TRG 42 338LM with the full stock and it had quite a nasty kick to it with the Sako brake installed. Of the 338LM I have fired the TRG42 had the worst kick. DTA SRS the least kick in my experience.
