Where to find 7mm wsm brass

Necking up 270 WSM brass is not a great idea, since the headspace dimensions for the 7mm WSM is somewhat longer than either the 270 or the 300 WSM.

If I could find some, I would take 325WSM brass, run it through the 7mm WSM die, leaving a false shoulder that would allow fireforming to the correct dimensions.

Regards, Dave.

Try the EE?

I have a few hundred but not really willing to part with, somebody will have some.

at my last Fclass match one guy was shooting open with 7mmwsm from neck up 270wsm brass I don,t know more about the forming process but you may need to create a false shoulder
migth be esier to neckdown some 300wsm but be carefull about inside donut

I'm waiting for my 7WSM to arrive hopefully first of next week. I'm going with the 270 Norma Brass, necked up, and plan to seat bullets jammed hard into the lands to hold the case back against the bolt face for fire forming.
Anyone have a good fire-forming load data to share?

Try Rayner Shine or try Clay at Prophet River. It doesn't show on his website but when I bought my 325wsm brass he said that he also had 7wsm brass and neither showed on his website at that time.

5 or 6 or so grains of pistol powder, fill remainder with cream of wheat some use corn meal, plug end of case with tissue or wax to hold powder in.Go hard , less powder and no bullets harmed in the process.

Size normally after that.

I've never tried this method before,
1st question, is 5-6 grs enough powder to effectively blow the case shoulders out?
2nd question, with this particular case (7WSM) using 270 or 300 WSM cases, the shoulder won't keep the cartridge seated against the bolt enough to fire. So will creating a false shoulder by necking up to 308, then back down to 284 be enough to do it?

Right now I have loaded up a bunch with some powder I don't use, ad some old bullets I don't use. (I did look up the load, it is minimum load listed in a load manual) I will seat the bullets well jammed into the lands. I was just curious to see if anyone had a go-to fire form load.

1st answer - yes, I size 308 to 7-08 in Lapua brass , I full length sized then used 4 or 5 grains of tight group , then neck collet sized only after.

2nd answer - I cannot say as I have not done this on my 7 WSM.
