I have a chance to buy either a 1941 Officers Model Target or a 1956 Officers Model Match (also in .22). Both guns are decent with the Target at 90% mostly due to a snall scratch on the RH side plate and the Match closer to 95%. Buying both is not the preferred option right now (found a 1915 Luger last week:d )
The Match is priced $130 more than the Target.

Is there anything to make one superior to the other or more desirable?

Are you asking us as gun-geeks or as collectors, Sailor? I am not a collector or appraisal or investment expert...but as the forum's out house authority on old-school-cool...I vote for the Match Model. I love target guns and the grips on that look exactly like what you would expect from a luxury Colt revolver...

Seeing as how you are buying one or both of those gems can I please have that Luger of yours?;) It's the least you can do in exchange for my expertise in this matter...:)

That Luger is what is making me hesitate (that and a nickel 19-3 I succumbed to yesterday);)

It seems like there are a lot of good guns I really want showing up all at once.

Wild guess:

Match: $650
Target: $500
Those would probably be low-end values. At Auction, depending on the crowd ... $150 or $200 more.

Nice revolvers! I prefer the S&W Model 17 to the Match, and the Model 34 to the Target. That's just me.

Someone will correct me shortly
