Another Remington disappointment

This is what I found in a sealed box of Remington core-lockt rifle cartridges while trying out my new Sako 7x64 today. Add this one to the list of .22 shells without any powder, 9mm bullets mixed in with some .224" bullets, and many annoying fit and function problems with various Remington 700 rifles. No more Remington stuff for me.

I discovered the wrinkled, deformed cartridge case when trying to chamber a round. It was sticky going in, so I checked. Not my idea of a prize, it could have had a massive gas leak and wrecked my rifle and perhaps injured me if fired. And the .224 bullets did not add up to 100 count, I suspect that bag was filled by weight.

have you tried contacting them with pictures and lot numbers? if they don't offer reimbursement (money or new product) i would consider not buying from them again.

Those .224" bullets are also the only ones I've actually seen disintegrate in mid-air when shot out of a 1:7 barrel. They appear to be plated instead of jacketed. Other 55 grain bullets and Sierra 40 grain HPs all worked just fine.

As far as .22LR goes, the Thunderbolts and Target ammo have leaded the bore of my S&W K-22 to the point of keyholing. The two buckets of Golden Bullets I have shot were not very accurate, dirty to handle, and had no neck tension, with the bullet retained only by the crimp. That said, they actually functioned well and were OK cheap plinking ammo.

I stopped buying their .22LR and 9mm years ago, way too many issues. Oddly though, the Remington .45 ACP I still have has been just fine.

Winchester has lots of reports of bad ammo as well.
Federal has fewer people reporting issues that I've noticed but I dislike their brass for reloading (too soft) and their primers (both component and in their factory ammo) are exceptionally soft as well.

I don't really buy factory ammo much at all. Bulk 9mm for pistol but I usually go with steel cased since it's cheaper.
For .22lr for me it's European brands for match stuff (Eley, SK, Lapua, RWS) or CCI for reliable hunting stuff. Everything else (Rem, Win, and Fed) get relegated to plinking or letting new shooter friends try out guns with.

Every bag of Remington brass I've bought has had 1-2 extra pieces in it.
Half the bags of Winchester brass I've bought were missing 1-2 pieces; rest where right on.
Only Rem bullets I've bought are 300gr .458" JHP's and there were quite a few extras in there; something like 105 instead of 100.
