Calgary TSE M14 Clinic Sunday 13 Sept 2015 - Debrief here!

Just finished the M14 Clinic at TSE... Great facility, great bunch, of people. Should thank Jr. for setting this one up...

I learned a lot, mind you I'm not a seasoned M14 guy, however the fun factor with "Hungry"'s teaching worth every penny... I'll definitely follow him and take his other clinics...

Thanks a lot...

Awesome class Barney. Love your style and anecdotes! We really appreciate you coming out all this way to teach us oil folk. Wish I had the the time to take your CQB classes. Hopefully we will all get the chance next year!

A great day of tweaking & tuning. Always a pleasure taking one of hungrys courses. I think the patrons of the farmers market are going to be scratching their heads, confused by a bunch of guys hammering off flash hiders on your trucks trailer hitch vice in the parking lot.

I am so glad that JR & the TSE crew host you for these events.
Bring on the pistol & carbine!

Okay, cooling my heels in Turner Valley and heating up leftovers. Darn that was an excellent day. Being surrounded by shooters and disassembled M14 rifles by lunch; life cannot get any better. :)

Glad you loved the anecdotal funny stories and how Justin (Nice Hair) Turdo got his first name! The Wolverine Supplies M14 clinic guys know that one too.

I just cannot get over what a great bunch you guys are / were! Thanks for all that support and your attendance. I was impressed greatly how all of you helped each other like mad throughout the tweaking stages. For example... when we were bashing off them flash suppressors, everyone took turns helping each other. Now by helping out, you become the defacto Jedi Knight in flash suppressor unit smashing off process.

Then I went back inside from the Tacoma bumper mounted FS Unit removal operation to facilitate the tightening of the op rod guides (peening and knurling). It was pure awesomeness just to watch a bunch of people center punching their barrels by auto punch gadget and then by hammer/centerpunch method. Lots of productivity all round but this time without any discipline problems (I'm used to after 30 years in the classroom)

Lots of high fives and great feelings! What's not to like? Gotta clean up the kitchen now. TTYL...

Just a FYI for the Kelowna bunch. I've got a hand knurler for op rod tightening . Does a great job. Even the 2 millwrights at work had never seen one before...

Remember I asked if you ever lost a UN flag?

Thanks again... I wish your handgun clinic was over the weekend too!!!

That was a frikkin' awesome time; thanks Barney & to the folks at TSE as well! Definitely got my monies worth X10 today which is a rare thing to be able to say these days... Enjoyed meeting & tinkering on rifles with fellow CGN'ers as well; like Elcap mentioned it was quite amusing to see the looks on people's faces watching a bunch of guys hammering on guns in the parking lot lol.

This certainly wet my appetite for a 2 day M14 clinic in Calgary to go deeper into bedding, rebarreling, & shooting ; not to mention a bunch more of Barney's stories! Cheers & thanks again, John

It's all been said, but I'll say it again, great course with great people!
Thanks Barney, this was the perfect intro to the platform for me, looking forward to level 2 next year.
Cheers

Holy smokes, I went into the clinic thinking I knew a fair bit about these guns (well, I knew a fair bit, for a relative n00b :p). Figured it would be a good refresher on some things, and I'd pick up a few useful tips and tidbits.

I went away feeling like I must have been pretty green, when standing next to Teacher!

What a course, guys were awesome to chat with and shoot the breeze, Barney's stories were great, and I came away learning more than I would have imagined. I learned a few things that I can't imagine I ever would have anywhere else, got advice on things that simply couldn't have been done over the interwebs.

Gotta say, 100% would do this course again, I'm sure I'd pick up more from it another time (and the stories alone are worth it!).

On another note, anyone who was there, do any of you guys have a spare USGI wood stock you'd sell? Or Boyds? Or even an unpainted fiberglass stock? Let me know! I need it tomorrow if possible, and i'll drive to Strathmore or where ever that's sort of near by calgary.

Yes...it was an awesome day yesterday. Thanks a Heap, Barney...and I'll be watching for your advanced M305 classes. I now have a hankering to glass-bed a M305 stock. Also shooting one of your Close Quarter pistol/carbine sessions. Seeya!

I had a few laughs on the ride back to Edmonton just thinking about the stories. Hey Barney, count me in for the full on M14 class when/if you decide to go ahead with it. Maybe a full on 2 day class with a little combined M14 cqb course!

To put it simply that was an excellent class and an eye opener for sure. I know we barely scratched the surface in many ways. Eventually we will pull that multi-decade experience out of you..... or your #### will fall off. You make the choice on that one.

What a great group of guys to hang out with and work on the guns. Love the diversity of guns as well, way cool.

CQB at TSE ? Get ready because I just did a recce of the 50 m/yd range and tomorrow we are gonna kick butt! It's my "trial" for next year.... "I'll be back.." that's my movie moment quote from Sylvester Stallone!

I hate to offer a correction to the supreme master overlord, but that quote was Arnold Schwarzenegger ;)

I'll agree with every one before - the clinic was awesome. It was just the right amount of theory backed by practical hands on. If you have an M1A or a Norc M-305, this clinic is time and money well spent. The down side is that now I need to buy some more accessories and such for my M-305.

JR left town for TDot and I'm waiting to hear back from him. If anything I will be driving back from Whistler on the 30 Sep date, and If we could have the classroom, I would try and book for the 01 Oct date. So we are still planning.

What's more difficult, is that I'm doing all my planning from my pickup truck so to speak and not my home base, so I'm literally flying by the seat of my pants. Big use of a metaphor! :)

Stay tuned, I'm even trying something for the weekend of 03-04 Oct as we sit here tonight.

Cheers,
Barney

Carbine and handgun over the weekend would be great... Might as well find myself some extra mags and a plate carrier!!!

I apologize, but we cannot give up our bays for a class on the weekends. Especially when we don't charge Barney to use it. We are just waaaaaay too busy.

We are happy to accommodate Barney in a classroom on weekends and bays (if not booked by professional agencies) during the week.

Not a problem on an early October class though.
