looking for some advice and first hand experience on low magnification ar sights.

Requirements

No more than 4x.
A usable bdc.
Must not need batteries to run (etched).
Must be rugged.
Large fov (not low power scope)

At this point I think my best option to fill this requirement is a acog but I am asking to see if there are any other sights that will come close to comparing with a lower price tag.
I've read a few reviews on the burris ar 332 but they where not so flattering.

As always any advice is appreciated.
 
Bushnells AR 1-4x PCL Throwdown gets my vote for inexpensive magnified optic. The reticle is etched with BDC and also has illumation in low light. Pretty sharp, bright image too with some light barrel distortion just around the edges at 1x. Usually find 'em on the EE for sub $300.

I agree. Have one... first was doa in box. Second runs like a champ.
 
I've run a couple different 1-4 scopes.
The Bushnell AR is absolute crap, and I wouldn't recommend to anyone other that someone I'm competing against. The reticle is barely useable at 1x and a cluster fvck of a mess at 4x.
I've had/have 3 Hilux CMR 1-4 and loved the scope. Great glass and fantastic reticle, spot on. Problem was my rifle keeps eating the scope for lunch. 3 warranties.
I'm currently using a PST 1-4 and am quite happy with it. I prefer the Hilux reticle, but the scope has a couple thousand rounds to its credit and still going strong.

I'm a blue collar, so I can't afford or vouch for anything higher end.

A heads up to anyone who cares;
When a man asks about ACOG (steak), don't offer Bushnell (mcds chicken nuggets). It's not cool ;).
 
Hi, I tried ACOG and sold it. I felt the eye relief was too short. YMMV. But try one before you buy (or get it used and sell it if you do not like it!).

I ended up buying an EOTech with flip to side magnifier. Perfect for me. You could get the EOTech 553 (if memory serves for model number), it has multiple aim points to compensate for distance. I rarely shoot past 200 yards so I cannot comment on longer range shots.

FYI... The Burris AR332 eye relief is quite short (2.5"). The MTAC is much better (4.0"). I haven't had much opportunity to test out the BDC on the MTAC.
 
Eye relief is important as I would like to run flip up sights and that will move the sight up the rail. I will swing by wanstalls and see if they have a acog on an ar15 and see how it looks. I also just came across this Elcan OS3/ATOS3 Quick Adjust I might take a look at it as well. I think the problem is I'm asking to much from a sight I can find all the features I want just not all in one setup. Do any of you guys run a 1x4 scope with a micro dot for cqb? I see it a lot but it just seems like the dot is so high above the barrel.

I have an acog with and doctor optic piggybacking it.
 
I looked at the vortex spitfire 3x it was pretty nice for the price point but the eye relief was only about 2.5" dose anyone run one of these with a flip up in front?
