That's a funny looking .264 rifle bullet...

You will need a pretty good chamfer on the case mouth to seat that one..... I have had that sort of thing crop up from time to time over the years as well. Shyte happens on occasion.

About a year ago I had a box of those HDY 45 HPs missing one and in turn had a .17 cal bullet. It almost fit in the HP tip. My kids thought it was a baby bullet.

I had some 308 headstamped ammo in a box of 6.5x55 a few years ago. It was 6.5x55, just miss stamped. Bought at Reliable, they took one quick look and just handed me a new box.

Funny you say that, I found a 6.5x55 case in my pile of twice fired 308 LC brass (I fired them myself) I have no idea how it ended up in my keltec RFB fired brass, considering I don't even own a 6.5x55 rifle. I'm lucky I sold the rfb before finding out about the case. It shouldn't have chambered or fired in a 308 rifle right?

Probably would have been destroyed in your die during sizing.

I don't like the looks of that. If they can somehow get a pistol bullet in a bag of rifle bullets, they can also be mismatching different caliber rifle bullets also in the same bag.... I frigging hope I don't have to check the size of each bullet before seating them, or I won't be using hornady stuff for long.

That 6.5 was not fired in your rifle. It won't fit. Too fat at the web, for one thing. You picked it up along the way.

Wasn't someone whining about this happening with the Remington bullets he bought...

Just goes to show you...#### happens

Yes, yes it does.

Like any other aspect of reloading, it does pay to have a pretty good look at all the component parts, while you are in progress, if not before.

The real question is.... How many rifle bullets did you get in the box?

I have been coming up with one or two extra in the last few boxes of Hornady .224 bullets, and it irks me to have leftovers. :D Makes me pick through my junk and come up with a couple extra cases,etc.....Tragic! :)

There are some guys that will whinge about the color being wrong if it rains fifty dollar bills, too. Best to not give them any more credence than they deserve.

Cheers
Trev

Every company out there has accidentally released some mispackaged stuff at some point. If this is enough to get you to stop using a companies products, just stop shooting all together.

I read the OP, glanced at the photo and thought "Holy Crap! How the hell does he expect me to see....OHHHHHHHH........!" :)

I would agree with a poster, that Hornady is unlikely to do anything if you contacted them. To me the "right" thing to do would be to send a store credit to the OP's LGS for equivalent value. That sort of word of mouth is what some companies did in the past. Sadly, now mostly in the past.

So send a store credit for like $0.50 for one incorrect bullet? Lol
