That's a funny looking .264 rifle bullet...

Not bullets, but a couple years ago I bought ww 45-70 brass on the ee - 97x 45-70 and 3x 300H&H. Not the sellers fault, it was a factory sealed bag.

Bought a box of Hornady interlocks about three years ago that were packaged as 312. Bullets started dropping in the case mouths so I figured better take a measure. Turns out they were 309 so was slightly pissed but they were repurposed for the K31s so no worries.

That's where it gets a little more scary. I know Quality Control can't be absolutely perfect, but some errors can be more costly than others. What happens when there are .312's packaged as .308's? Especially as loads get on the hotter side of things...

Yes, yes it does.

Like any other aspect of reloading, it does pay to have a pretty good look at all the component parts, while you are in progress, if not before.

The real question is.... How many rifle bullets did you get in the box?

I have been coming up with one or two extra in the last few boxes of Hornady .224 bullets, and it irks me to have leftovers. :D Makes me pick through my junk and come up with a couple extra cases,etc.....Tragic! :)

There are some guys that will whinge about the color being wrong if it rains fifty dollar bills, too. Best to not give them any more credence than they deserve.

Cheers
Trev

Every box from hornady I have ever bought except gmx has had 1-4 extra bullets in it.

I once had a box of Hornady 150 gr, spire point bullets .308 diameter that I was loading in my .308 win. One bullet stuck in the seating die. i got it out, It looked identical to the rest and so I measured it. It was .312" diameter and was actually meant for the .303 british. I sent lot numbers and pictures to Hornady. Their response was basically that they make so many bullets each day that mistakes will happen. And have a nice day. It didn't inspire confidence in their products.
