Hello all. I have recently acquired a Savage Arms 6D, Stevens 87, Springf....you know. I have wanted one for years and finally found one and at a good price. It looks to be in decent shape but definitely needs some cleaning before taking it out. Anyone have a link to a proper cleaning strip guide (bolt, pin etc removal and reassemble)? I'm slogging through with the Googling but some help here would be awful nice. Thanks for help if you can.

They are actually reasonably easy to clean. I have about 15 or 20 of them in various makes and variations.

Here is a wealth of information about these rifles. If you want to have an evening disappear, go to the top and check out the clone database.

An interesting feature of these old fellas is that the bolt will stay open after you fire it if you hold the trigger back. You can also use them as a single shot quasi bolt action by locking the bolt into the hole provided. :)

Excellent. I will definitely start rooting through there. At first glance, it looks good. I have fired these as two of my buddies have one each. I always thought they were a lot of fun to shoot for the reasons you mention. I remember shooting low velocity short rounds through one and easily seeing the projectile travel downrange and the report being near silent. I think the action of the rifle itself was louder haha. Thank you for the help.
