been reading online of agencies moving away from s&w pistols, are they really as big of pieces of sh*t as they seem? pretty awful stories on US boards.

Trigger isn't great but in regards to reliability/accuracy I had a 2011 model used put 1500 flawless rounds through it. I'd recommend one in a second. Nicer in your hand than glock. I'm gonna make a prediction it's the next sidearm for the us army.

I bought an M&P9 range kit a few years ago. It's not the greatest but good for shooting at the range. I bought a $250 U.S Diamondback 9mm that I like better.

7 years, 55000+ rounds, 3 pretty intense courses, been run like a dog, dropped, frozen and muddy, presented from the holster a ridiculous number of times (actually wore out a Raven Phantom) - total malfunctions 4, all due to bad ammo. Will still dump 10 rounds into a 3x5 card, will still hit what I'm aiming at. Generally speaking I've run the thing like a btch and it's kept going. Anyone want to buy a couple of Glocks with low round counts?

I have found them rock solid and very accurate. The triggers on the Pro series are considerably better than the base model. A real pleasure to shoot. I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

Thanks,
Cal.

I have a hard time getting use to my M&P 9's hinged trigger as I am far more comfortable with my 1911. A while back A fellow shooter noticed my frustration and offered me his CZ for a few shots. I felt at home with that hammer gun as it reminded me of my 1911 so much that I went 10 for 10 on the steel plates.

I like the feel of the S&W and plan on swapping out the trigger.

I have not had a single issue with the .40 not even a single FTF. I have no complaints whatsoever about it. Out of everyone I let shoot it only one person commented that they didn't like the hinged trigger. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one in a different caliber.

might get one of these in .45 since there are some good deals out there. otherwise the new walther is looking interesting in .45

I have 3 mp9s (diff gens) and a compact they're all good. I had issues with the first one (bought when it first came out) with it ejecting back into my face and with 147gr (accuracy)but I sanded the ejector and changed to a new gen barrel and no longer have issues apex kit is a great upgrade, I left the newest gen one stock.. Trigger is decent and the reset is almost as good as the ram upgrade.

Trigger(stock) takes a bit to get use to, but I've had no ftf or any other issues in the 10 years I've owned one with 10k+ rounds fired between the 4

No offense but 1500 rounds is nothing to brag about. Enefgee below has a number worth mentioning. And it won't be the next US Army sidearm as they require a second strike capability which you don't get with striker fired guns.

Ammo stoppages don't count in my books. ;)

Again, not trying to be a prick but your issue isn't the gun, it's your lack of fundamentals. A DAO trigger on a striker fired gun requires you to demonstrate sound fundamentals or it will prove how poor those fundamentals are. The CZ you shot is a DA/SA gun that weighs a lot with a light trigger, like a 1911. It's basically the same gun which is why you saw similar results.

The M&P should be decent, it's S&W's third attempt at copying a Glock. Yet it still has issues..

Well smith has teamed with general dynamics to supply the pistol and apparently they're in final submission stages with the mp pistol.

And while I haven't shot 4 billion rounds 1500 without a hitch is worth a mention.

To quote your post " not trying to be a prick".

Have a .22 that is finally cycling 99.9 of the time(after 2000 down the pipe) and it like the peters from Remington. My 9mm has never had a problem, only 2000 down the tube. They are both good reliable pistols and feel good in the hand. I would recommend them in a heart beat. For the price you pay I don't think you can get any better. I have both totally stock. You can always get better, but these pistols are inexpensive to purchase. Oh and both are really accurate as well, not as accurate as my cz or kimber but I don't think a battle gun is meant to be.

Cheers

I hated the Glock and love my M&P9. It's a recent model, stock. I'll replace the trigger at some point but I'm not hurrying.
