Dilemma of tactical chassis for Tikka T3 Tactical

I have been looking for them, but cannot decide which one actually works.
Here's the problem: Many of these stocks are for "long action" or "short action" rifles, but I'm not sure what kind of action T3 Tactical has.

In fact I'm not even sure if I want a tactical chassis. The rifle in its current condition can hit 700 yards steel without difficulty. :cool:

So here I am, looking for ideas, any helps will be much appreciated. :)

All tikka t3 are long action physically.
What caliber is your rifle ? That's what matters.
I've got a t3 tac in an xlr chassis (short caliber), and a t3 in a mdt hs3 chassis (long caliber).
If you've got a short action caliber, I'd recommend one of the krg chassis first, the xlr second, and the grs bolt horn third.

223 in the xlr and 6.5x55 in the mdt hs3.
I shoot better with both in chassis rather than the factory stocks due to better ergonomics.
The 223 has a ridiculously good hit rate on 10" plates at 1000 yards with 80 grain bergers and a compressed charge of n140.

Yep, I like the explanation and the list above. I managed to get a Roedale RCSII but it's very hard to find.

My list :) (Within my price range)

Roedale RCSII
KRG Whiskey-3
XLR element
KRG X-Ray
Cadex Field Tactical
MDT HS3

Good options now for the Tikka T3 :)
 
I would have gone with another xlr if they catered to the tikka long calibers, rather than the mdt hs3.
The hs3 is okay, but has the grip too low in relation to the trigger, and the tikka specific long caliber mags aren't perfect.

First of all, thank you for these suggestions. I think XLR chassis might be better.
The one I have is in good old 308.
Speaking of 223 at 1000 yards, I'm not sure if I will ever get a bolt action 223... I only use the ammunition for 3 gun and plinking.

I originally purchased for gophers, but after running it out to long range with the 80 grain bergers, i was surprised to find it whoops up on most 308 load's ballistics.

A Grodas GRS may be at the upper end of the budget, but an option as well for someone looking for a wooden stock for a T3 Tactical.

That's great news. Thanks for the heads up.

They were not available when I bought my RCSII (great deal I've got) but I also remember that the US had a few AICS for Savage a few years back, how many ended up in Canada?
