Hello Gentlemen
Recently acquired this 52 cal rifle and I cant make out the makers name.
Any ideas?

Well, to ME it reads L.Parker/PARKs BIRM? - but from the style of the lock the shape of the trigger guard and the general crudity of the configuration of the sight I'd be amazed if it had been made any where near Birmingham.

It's a nice piece, mind, but not, IMO, English. Are there no other marks on it - underneath the barrel for instance?

L Parkes is the name
Birmingham proof mark on barrel
10782 "may" be serial no.
40 may be bore size in gauge numbers

I agree with OLDSTARFIRE and you might find the serial no. stamped on another part or two. Are there any identifying marks on the inside of the lock plate? It was a very nice rifle when younger!
 
Interesting gun in the style of a rigby sporting rifle in alot of ways.

She has been cleaned aggressively by the looks of it sadly.

What's the bore like ?
