I'm looking to get one of these shotguns. Are sabots that much more accurate that it is worth the extra cost for ammo?I would like to hear from some owners about them.Pretty scarce on the EE.Is that because they aren't that popular or nobody wants to part with them?

Sabots will increase your range more so than accuracy. Roughly double the effective range of a rifled slug through a smooth bore. Savage claims 2 moa accuracy and that is what I have found with my 220 with accutips. I have taken deer at 130 yds with a perfect hit but not tried it any further. I passed on an open field shot last fall at 175 yds due to windy conditions and lack of practice at that range.

If you are hunting deer, then yes, the extra 50 yards or so of range they give you is priceless.
Like previous poster, with sabots I would shoot out to 125 yards or so.
With foster slugs, I would probably limit my shots to 75 yards.

If you like a shotgun that shoots sabots like a rifle at 150 yards buy a 220 . I have a 220 savage left hand and picked it up two years ago for 425 shipped. They are the perfect gun if you hunt fields and like accurancy. My shot a buck opening morning and if I hunt the shotgun season I will be taking it out again. They are crazy accurate. Scarce now because we are a month away from shotgun season and used ones get picked up quick.

I think sabots are definitely worth the extra $ . They can, with a little experimenting with different ammo turn your shotgun into a rifle. I get 2" groups out to 100-150yrds Mossberg 500 with 2 3/4" hornady SST. Taken deer out 121yrds, verified by range finder!
I would think the 220/212 would serve as a great gun to gain even more accuracy and range.

Just got my 220 in the mail today. Wow. What a very cool gun!!! I only got a chance to run a few slugs down the tube to sight the gun in but I was very impressed at 50m. I have to go back later this week and dial things in for 100m.

I'm looking at buying a 212 also. Checked pricing as follows Labaron (camo) $700.00, Ellwood Epps (Black) $673.00 and Cabellas (Black) $659.00. Let me know if you have something cheaper. I was actually looking for a Rossi or H&R single shot slugger, but nothing available. Probably just as well. Heard they kick like a mule..........

20g is a lot nicer to carry and shoot .no need to go to the 12ga when shooting Sabot for deer I would shoot moose bear or deer with the 20g Sabot no problem. Dutch
