Glades armory new bolt handle and PTG bolt body for Savage

Here's a question...

Can you get a black version of the fluted body or for that matter can you swap out a jewelled savage model 12 bolt body with a matte black? I just got myself a FCV 12 and want to swap out the shiny silver jewelled with a more standard model 10 style look.

Is that a option?? Cerakote??

sweet thread! I just had my ptg bolt body kit arrive in the mail last week...took about 10 weeks from order to delivery

SSS definitely does not ship to Canada and they cannot/will not ship to a FFL importer either

what diameter did you guys order for your bolt body? I ordered .700 and factory I measured at .692

I've read reports online where the new bolt tightens up some of the savage slop, pretty excited to get mine together

I went with the smallest diameter for the body as all I was looking to do was make my action look a little more fancy. After the amount of times I have looked this thread I can't believe I missed the part above about SSS not shipping to Canada... BOOOOOOOOOOOOOURNS!!!..... Indeed.

Hi I just put a post up asking if anyone knew where I could get a larger bolt handle in canada for my savage 10, the one u have was one I had saw but could only find US companies.

Did u get yours in Canada ?, is there a website ?

Thanks

ZOMFG! I'm so sorry I haven't responded before now Wardog I saw you emailed me last week I think and haven't had a chance to reply because work... The short answer is I ordered mine direct from Glades Armory they do ship to Canada. Same with the bolt body was ordered direct from PTG. The restrictions on ordering from the US for PTG, they said in an email applies to a 500$ limit. So no Remington actions, but you should be good for a bolt body.

Just ordered a bolt handle from glades. Took the bolt out of the back of my bolt. I had to stand on the bolt handle and bounce on the allen wrench to break the lock between the retaining bolt. That sucker is on there tight.

I thought I would share my experiences with the PTG fluted bolt.

I ordered the bolt body direct from PTG using the standard 0.6995" diameter. Having a gunsmith fit it and check headspace is highly recommended. I don't quite remember the modification but one was required to make it fit properly. I also had it cerakoted but the clearances were so tight that we ended up having to polish it off. My smith sent me a picture of the polished both with cerakote still in the fluting and i loved the look of it so I decided to keep it that way.

Here is the end result:

What stock is that??

Those are pretty nice. I wish someone would make a longer bolt handle like this with the rounded top that would accept normal sized bolt knobs (like the one PTG sells). I'd like one for my American classic but don't like a big bolt knob on a hunting rifle that I carry in the bush.
