For your viewing here is SVT-40 rifle that is matching including magazine. Unfortunately she went through some restoration - stock was coated with some lacquer, metal was probably slightly blued and notch for sniper mount is also not authentic, but hey, how often do you see SVT that has original matching magazine... I guess not very often...

I'm pretty sure finding one that hasn't been 'restored' is pretty rare! The Russians put all their rifles through the same process after they became obsolete and went for long term storage. Even the ones I see at museums in Ukraine have the same lacquer coating.

I spotted some firearms for sale at the local shopping mall in Kharkov, Ukraine just yesterday. They have the same lacquer as well.

Well, the lacquer on mine is definitely not the same as Soviets used for refurbishing. Mine was for sure refinished here in North America, thanks God the guy did not sand the stock.

The SVT is more than th AK?

If only we could have them :(

I had one that was all matching including the mag, sold it a few years ago for a song -
This rifle is refurbished so originally she had EPed forced matched magazine. And she has force matched stock which is normal for 99.9% of refurbished rifles. I wish you had better pics of the mag, as from what I see I suspect its serial was added by somebody here. "H" instead of "И", two strokes instead of "Г", very fresh marking comparing to the mag finish, poorly aligned characters and absent number of mag (1, 2 or 3). They stopped making numbers for mags I think in 1943.

I remember the rifle and mag well and the mag had no other stamped or eletro penciled serial numbers on it. It is always possible that the serial number was added later but the mag would have been a unmarked one and I am yet to see one of those unmarked mags in the many that I have examined.

I also am pretty sure the old stock serial number was the same but well worn after the stock refinish so I think they just stamped it again after the arsenal refinish.

The collector who bought it off me was very happy with it and thought that the mag was original to the rifle too. It was a 1941 Tula.

On one of the mag pictures in your first post you see mag metal bent under the punches, this is never the case with original stamping. I'm sorry but there are just too many things that tell mag serial was bubbaed. Rifle is Soviet refurb, judging by bolt carrier colour and wood repair. Doesn't look like Bulgarian. So mag has to be EPed. I can't comment on unnumbered mags - I think there were some spare kits, but I don't recall seeing one. There were some reproduction (unmarked), but this looks original. Again, I wish pictures were better or I could look at the rifle.

The SVT appears to be 7800 and the AK appears to be 8400, which is about $155 and $170 CAD. I would love any gun at that price!

Actually UAH = CAD: $1 = 16.1 UAH

Mosin - 4000 UAH is $248 CAD
SVT - 7800 UAH is $485 CAD
AK - 8400 UAH is $522 CAD
Actually pretty expensive for an SVT and mosin nagant... I don't know what an AK is worth back home.
