What is the deal with the Beretta cheetah? Why are these not available in Canada to buy? Seems like there are one or two variants that meet the legal length. If not they could always add the 1 inch barrel extension. Just curious... Seems like a cool pistol.

If I recall correctly, Beretta doesn't make the Cheetah any more. Also, when they did make them, Beretta stopped importing them into the US (and by extension Canada) early on. There may be a few old ones around, but I suspect they are rare. They were a nice gun though.

Pretty well not available to us unless you find an expensive Model 86 (supply and demand) on the EE.

I saw a mint one listed on ee a couple months ago for $1500. Don't know what it sold for but it went fast.

Wow... these bad boys are all over the American firearms sites selling at well under half that. Not really surprised I guess... thanks for the info.

Had a Model 81 in .32ACP back in the day. Very similar dimensions to the "Cheetah". IIRC this series of pistols came in .22lr, .32 & .380 in different model numbers & configurations. They are kinda cool but IMHO quite large dimensionally for the cartridges.

From a CCW perspective [yeah, I know - moot up here in Canuckistan] IMHO there are better choices. The compact Glocks are not much larger yet chamber much more effective ctgs.

I think we'd see more up here if there was a demand for them. But I don't see that demand being there.

Not sure about the other variants, but the one I am referring to is an 86 which has the Canadian legal 4.3", tip up barrel and fetches a premium. In the US, samples in excellent shape are going for about $1k usd.

I'm with you - too bad there are not more around. I'd like one for sure. 1500 is more than i'd pay though.

This is the only Cheetah model (86) .380 I've seen on the EE, that had a CDN legal barrel from the factory. Maybe there are others, don't know. Beretta Cheetah is hard to find around here, expect to pay a premium for it if you can find one.

I'd rather have an 9mm H&K P7 pistol that is probably even more rare and commands big bucks on the EE if in excellent/mint condition. A couple sponsors even bragged about bringing a shipment of them in - that never materialized. Supply and Demand.

I seem to see them on US sites going for $700-$1000 I guess depending on condition and the model... $1500 Canadian is over my budget for a pistol for sure. You could buy two new decent pistols with that and probably have some money left over for ammo.

Ah well, I will add another pistol to the list of "cant get it in Canada" haha.

I used to have a Beretta 87BB in 22, it was a very nice. I lost one of the grip medalions which kind of bothered me so I traded it for a 357 ruger new model Blackhawk. They had a long 6 inch barrel version with a barrel weight. It cost me $800 brand new back in 1989 when I was in high school. I would not hesitate to buy another one if I ever find one.

Yes the P7s are pretty sweet. I remember that fiasco well, as i had my name down with both. That distributor left S&J and SFRC high, dry and pretty pissed. Would love to hear the real story at some point.

Armtac brought in a bunch of p7's a couple of years ago, I managed to get one of those. I also have a Browning BDA in .380 which is similar to their model 84 which is a double stack. Absolutely love the gun, and also the fact that you can get genuine Beretta 10 rd mags for like 20 bucks. I would take this over a pp or a ppk any day of the week.

I take it that Browning is Restricted only?
