After a little bit of a waiting game and some delays with XLR's export permit, my chassis finally arrived. Could the day get any better, I think so. My barrelled action was delivered the same day from TacOrd. After a little assembly and a short re-zero, this rifle is ready for some long-range TLC. Happy shooting everyone.

I think the rifle is finally finished, however thats what I said last time :roll eyes:

Cheers, Matt

How long was the wait?

I'm thinking of getting a XLR chassis if the AI AX 2014 model chassis I have on back order doesn't come in by new years.

Hi Matt...rifle looks great!! Love the razor too. Where are you doing your long range? I'm in the area as well. Trying to get more shooters together.

Cheers

I order this in mid July, they didn't have anything like this in stock so they had to make it to my order. I believe it was ready in 3-4 weeks. It was shipped and got stuck at the border sine XLR's export permit expired a week prior. I had to get Chris from UBExports to get it to me.

All in all I waited 2 months. Well worth it though!

It's a glades. As far as shooting locally, there's nothing really anywhere in the Sudbury area over 200m. I shoot on a neighbors property in BlindRiver. He owns a 300+ acre farm with tons of open space. I can laze as far as 1400m until you hit a rockey backstop that's roughly 80ft high.

Beauty! Is that a glades or star shooter bolt handle?

Also, where abouts are you guys shooting in Sudbury?

I bought the carbon last year

It's a pretty solid chassis, reached out to 1k early this may with this rig. The rifle was an excellent shooter out of the box, but I'm sure the chassis helped it along a little bit :)

Hope you don't mind a couple quick questions,
How stiff is the hand guard on the carbon model? Any flex there?

To both of you guys with Savages in XLR's, does the grip position allow your hand to get high enough so your trigger finger is aligned with the trigger? Or does it feel like you have to reach upwards with your trigger finger to reach the trigger? Weird question, I know, but the only chassis I have been able to handle in person was the new MDT and I had a hard time with the grip, IE had to reach upwards to the trigger if that makes sense.

The handguard is stiff, hardly any flex, plenty of clearance and should not interfere with the barrel.
I’ve never had any issue with reaching the trigger. It does appear that the trigger sits higher in the MDT chassis?

I’m not sure though, I’ve never really handled a rifle with the MDT

The grip position is great. I find my trigger finger is aligned properly with no awkward inclination you might find with other chassis. All XLR's chassis have the same grip and stocks, so what you're paying for is the front and sides of the chassis.

I've shot a carbon chassis before and they're extremely well made and tough enough to compete with aluminum designs. 8541tactical has a full review of it on youtube. He dose a great job in explaining the chassis.

Awesome, thanks guys.

As far as the hand guard, I wasn't so much concerned with it touching the barrel, but more overall stiffness as I like to shoot with a sling and a glove sometimes for the added challenge and positional practice.
