Papaclaude, with your recent loss of your hunting pug have you thought of a Hunting French Pug?
Then again maybe it is to soon for a new 4 legged friend?
While surfing u toob I cam across this today.

Hah, I love it!!!! ANyone that remembers my sig line, it stated that I hadn't tried the pug on grizz or cougar (4-legged, that is - worked great on bringing in the 2-legged variety). Well, that question is now answered, so if I do get another pug, I can take him after any game in North America. Not so sure about African game though.

Thanx, Rob, you made my day.

It tears our guts out when we lose our best buds, but we must persevere and find new ones to keep us going. I was going to get a Pug after my last yellow lab Bucky went home to Momma, but my wife found this little beauty less than 5 days after and brought him home.

Sherman is almost 5 years old now and even if he don't fit in the canoe to swell, he's still a magical entity.

Pugs are an absolute nuisance and a totally useless dog, but damned, they're lovable, loyal, affectionate, and they can understand more words than any breed I've ever seen. Mine could pick words out of a sentence. If you mentioned the word "cheese", "squirrel", "hunting" or "fishing" in a conversation with someone, the little bugger was right there, out of nowhere. The only big thing keeping me from getting another one is the bloody shedding. And, I don't know if I could go through having to get another one put down. This from a guy who must have put down 20 dogs, some my own, some for others, because we didn't have a vet in town, and no one could afford one anyways. Oh, and did I mention that they're stubborn, bossy and opinionated - oops, no, that's the wife! But yeah, pugs are stubborn and bossy.

That's what makes the wee beasties so lovable. I've done the bad thing with dogs back in the day as far as take out stray game chasers. My dad had our dogs removed by a family friend with a 30-30 for the same, lack of vet situation in those days. I never knew this till years later.

I could never put my mates down myself.:(

That pretty much describes my English bulldog, but I wouldn't trade him for anything(except maybe a bird dog for upland hunting this fall, but I would want bulldog back as soon as hunting season is over lol). So much a stinking, farting, burping, member of the family. ImageUploadedByCanadianGunNutz1444168079.411008.jpg
