Who builds a nice SxS field gun these days?

Being an unrepentant rifle guy, my shotgun knowledge is sorely lacking, except for when a 12 ga is used in the role of a short range rifle. I'm not there yet, but at some time in the future, I'll be on the hunt for a quality SXS 20 ga. I'm open to suggestions, but at the moment a FAIR Iside, appears to be a good choice.

Be very wary about dealing with Bilozir, he has left a trail of unhappy customers behind him.

I picked up a CZ Ringneck in 28 gauge and have been happy with it so far. The wood isn't comparable to a Beretta, nor do I expect it to be given the price difference. I picked up the gun from Prophet River firearms although after ordering it, I tracked down a better deal at a small dealer in Manitoba, the name escapes me. Best deal I've got on a nice handling, quality SxS was a Sauer & Sohn 16 gauge. It has a few battle wounds but shoots great and is nice to carry. I don't mind using it in the brush or on soggy days.

I had a Yildiz sxs 20 ga, 28inch barrels, 5 chokes and barrel selector. Very light, 5.5pds and you walk with it a whole day and you forget you are carrying a shotgun. Yet it did not fit me at all, felt clumpsy on my shoulder and never could pattern it correctly. So I traded it a month ago with an o/u... I also have a CZ but o/u, Canvasback 12ga. Very heavy for my Grouse hunting trips yet been very reliable since I got it some 6 years ago. It is made in Turkey for CZ by Huglu...

So I presonnaly recommand a CZ sxs as they seem more rugged than the Yildiz.

If I HAD to buy a value priced SxS that is a new gun, I would be aiming for a Dickenson from Cabelas. Don't know if they sell them in Canada but a lot of guys on the doublegun forum who have a LOT of SxS experience rave about them. As in went out and bought one. I'm actually thinking of getting one in .410 because finding a quality .410 SxS that isn't a stupid amount of money is next to impossible.

Last time I asked at Cabelas (about 6 mo. ago) they said not likely. Reason given was they had a handful out west and could not sell them.

I like the Iside a lot , very well made guns.
There are some other really nice SXS guns out there , it all depends on how much you want to spend.
I have owned more than a few CZ SXS guns and like them as well, and the Yildiz is a super good deal for a field gun.

If I wanted a field SxS, and my budget was limited, the Yildiz would be my choice. With a larger budget, I would be shopping for a used AYA . I would avoid any brand, where I would have to deal with Bilozir, either for the shotgun itself, or for replacement parts or warranty.

Many people , including multiple people on this site have had issues with him. If only 1 in 10 people have the type of issues with him that I have experienced, that is way too many. I won't deal with a business where even 1 in 20 people has been mistreated and I don't want anyone else to have to endure what myself and several others have had to put up with.

Whatever, I don't think there is a single company out there that has not had issues with a company.
if you want to get all twisted up aboput something , so be it, fill your boots.

Every company in business has encountered some type of issue, it's how often these issues occur, and how the company chooses to deal with those issues that varies greatly from company to company.. In the case of Bilozir, his customers seem to encounter far more issues with him than they do with any other business, and most of those customers are less than satisfied with how he chooses to deal with those issues. My first dealing with a site sponsor years ago resulted in an issue with a rifle that I purchased, and it is the way that the business dealt with that issue that led to that company being the first business that I contact when I am shopping for a new firearm or related product. In the case of Bilozir, he could have become my go to business for shotguns and reloading supplies, but the way that he chose to refuse to deal with an issue that resulted with my first dealing with him, resulted in me never dealing with him again. I have spoken with several other individuals that had very similar issues with him, and they also will not deal with him again. One individual that we both know, actually had three issues with him, because he was a slow learner.
