classic 22 lr

I took a Cooey 60 and a Mossberg 146B out shooting last week- Had the Cooey for a while, just got the Mossberg. Both are classics, but the Mossie got 200 rounds through it and the Cooey only got 50, I hate to admit the Mossberg felt much better and smoother, and the 20 round tube mag was more fun than the Cooey. I think I'm now a Mossberg convert, they seem to be highly overlooked and undervalued. Both the Cooey 60 and Mossberg 146B seem to go for similar money, but side by side the Mossberg wins hands down.

Nice to see another Mossberg convert.Don't be looking at those Mossbergs too much. They tend to follow you home once you get the fever.

I have a few of the rifles often mentioned so far in this thread, like the 452, Nylon 66, a couple of Cooeys and enjoy them all. That said when someone mentions .22 rifle I think Marlin 39a.

I lucked out with an EE purchase of a 1968 Remington 40-XB .22 RF. It came with the Redfield peep sights and a bunch of front sight inserts. The metal work is in great shape, the stock could use a bit of work, but no complaints. It weighs 12.25 pounds and sports a 28" barrel that is .88" at the muzzle. I can't wait to shoot it this weekend!!!!!!

Was that the one up for sale a couple weeks ago? I seriously considered that one. It should be a great shooter. (But not as good as my Winchester 52's). Lol

Yes it was that one. I was second, and had to endure a 24 hour 'hold' on it. Turns out the fellow that put it on hold, was trying to get approval from the CFO and the request was denied. I'd really like to send that woman flowers, this rifle is amazing!!!!

I put a Talley 20moa 700SA rail on it, fit perfect. I then robbed my Anschutz 64 MPR of it's Leupold 6.5-20EFR.....I've never been so excited about shooting a new rifle as I am about this one.

Don't say anything to me about 52's.....I've been having a hard enough time with CZ's, Remington's and Anschutz multiplying. :HR:
