Not looking for a big four sided production that replaces current grip cause for me that would put optics too far out. Also the flimsy looking mounts that look like the old side mounts for win 94's don't impress me. Is there just a simple red dot rail to put on rear of bolt, yet sturdy?

God I love this gun though. Not a single regret other than me old eyes want for optics

Check out the dust cover rails.

I have several and those seem to be the best option of mounting optics on the vz rifle.

I know for a fact that it holds zero perfectly fine when it is disassembled and reassembled.

Plus you can fit a good 4x scope in it if you really want.

One of mine wears a Browe 7.62x39 4x BCO on it

That red rifles forum just gets no love these days eh?

Sounds like you want a dust cover mount:

Honestly though, I've had some good results with the "win 94" mounts

What manufacture is Yours by? Do they hold on from below with screws?
Thank You

I can't recommend the low CSA side mount. My low CSA side mount held up for just 600 rounds with a very light Holosun on it. I am not 100% certain the spring clamp held tightly enough to stop the mount from torquing on recoil. Recoil eventually peened the rear corners (mainly the upper corner) of the aluminum mount and it stopped holding zero. Maybe I had a bad one? I finally gave up on it and went back to the BC Tactical forward mount. Although it has drawbacks it always holds zero.

That's a shame. You know you can manually tighten the mount right? But that's not much good to you now.

Did you get the model that replaces the rear ironsight? That's the only Vz optic mount I still haven't tried!

I like the sound of the rear sight one. Again who's bought one where??

Do you have a plan to maintain your cheek weld? Because of the angle of the stock, I found that I have to sacrifice my cheek weld in order to look through the optic. TV-Press Passes solution works nicely.

Yes the mount was always tight and retightened with the nut on the bottom of the aluminum mount, as it loosened off. The recoil bearing vertical surface at the back of my aluminum mount wasn't machined with a good fit to the steel dovetail plate on the receiver, so the peening of the corners. Perhaps if the recoil surfaces fit well and the clamping pressure of the spring clamp is adequate, this mount might last for thousands or rounds or maybe not? Anyway, I lost interest in the experiment and tossed the mount. The only mount I use on my VZ's is the BC Tactical pressure fit handguard. If you fit them well to your rifle, they do not move no matter how many thousands of round fired. They are a pain to remove but do return to zero when reinstalled.

I'm going to give it a go as is cause mine will sit bout 1/2 " lower and I struggle now (and I mean struggle severely) to get myself shoved into the stock enough to shoot the irons. So like I said I'll just try er first. Them mod if/as req'd
