Unsuitable at Any Range: A Holosun Review

Thanks for the review, funny enough I was looking at that optic in stores in the last two months or so but decided on a Sun Optics Reflex Sight instead.

Dodged the bullet on that one.

Keep up the awesome work TV-PressPass.

Same Chinese manufacturer I believe.... Holosun...Sunoptics.

See that's the hard part! They're not. They're definitely better than NC star.

But the ones I've shot just aren't quite ready for the big leagues yet.

From your review it seems they aren't ready for the little leagues yet either. I kind of figured they were good for 22LR but wasn't sure about them for anything else. It's too bad, you always hope for something that hits above it's price point. Maybe in a few years.

Hey TVPP, how does the bushnell TRS-25 compare (for ruggedness/ durability/ reliability)??? Certainly another sub 200$ "Aimpoint clone".
Mine has held up with only issues being light glare, and red glare. But the dot has never failed me.

I have 2 HS403G models both on Vz 58's in 7.62x39. Several thousands of rounds through both and no issues. I use locktite and torque to the max. limits of each machine screw. Maybe I am lucky? I am not willing to pay $750 for an aimpoint micro but I am willing to compromise on a good product for the price. As with all inexpensive good optics inability to handle high recoil loads seems to be the compromise. I have destroyed 2, trs 25's on shotguns. Again only my own personal obervation, they don't last with high recoil loads. In my use the only inexpensive optic that has survived high recoil loads is a Vortex Strikefire. Shotguns, M14's all good to go.

For the price I was considering one for the solar option which I want. Guess will have to save up but what better options are out there with the solar backup?

Saw some on Alibaba but again we're talking cheap Chinese optic and a unknown quality control.

The key point here is MADE IN CHINA. Low quality(near zero quality) junk. Which leads us to Pitbull1973's comment below.

You get what you pay for

Had two TRS 25, they too are MADE IN CHINA junk. Burris fastfire is the lowest quality optic I would use on anything above rimfire. On a side note, I've had my T1 for 5 years, still on the original battery and it has done nothing but work.... Boring..

Stick to the known and tested brand optics for any rifle you may choose to defend your family's life with.
This is the RDS version of a Norc/ NEA vs. Colt/DD debate. Yes, anything mechanical/ electronic will fail. We trust that the $600 optic will fail less!
There are no Made in China anything on my competition/ hunting guns.

In used to try to save, I had tons of poor quality stuff. I now have a Daniel defense with a leoupold and a mk18 with an eotech.

Less gear, just better stuff.
