Birdshead grip availability...

Sorry to derail.

Anyhow, got me Mossy back from Casey and threw the Raptor on it. Feels pretty good although I haven't fired with it in yet.

Any fit / finish problems with your's?

^^^ Details man! Details! ;)

What's the gold stuff on the action bars and bolt body? Cerekote or some type of plating?

It's TiN Coating. My camera is out of Wack. The gun is black not a dusty gray and the TiN ain't as bright in the flesh.

Pretty stoked with the results.

Pretty pimpin, G-R! You should see if you can cut off the mold lines on the foreend with a sharp razor knife.

Will consider removing the ridges. Good idea. And thanks, Iam real happy with it.

The barrel is full VCS. I also had a few other little mods done. Casey and Pete do exceptional work for sure. Use the price list as a guide and throw any idea at them.

Dude, that looks f@cking awesome! You'll like the Raptor grip too... you can see some faint marks and creases on my grip, but it's a polymer piece so I wasn't expecting anything that beautiful. Fit is perfect, strong like a club.

Thanks fella.

The grip is not flush at the bottom, around the trigger group.

Sticks out, you can feel it on the palm and middle finger.

I had the VCS done on a 590A1 20"bbl and impressed with 00Buck groupings @ 25yrds. I'd be interested in hearing your results with a 14"bbl.
I have a Raptor grip dedicated to my Moss JIC. It's very manageable with hi-brass loads but for consistent accuracy I use the 590A1 with the full stock.

Does anyone make a wood birdhead grip? (ie. I want to potentially match a wood police style fore-end). Or are those usually a homemade job from an old stock?

There is a guy in Thailand out of all places that whittles up a nice looking birds-head style grip (with matching fore end) and does ship to Canada through flea bay.

Damn that looks good! That's the short forend too for the 14" model...

I can't find the auction... you can post the link, just take the http and www. out. I see the 870 version but not the Mossberg:

870 stocks can be bought pretty cheap specially when they are old and beat up... If you make your own you can make it a bit longer then a speedfeed that way it will be over 26" with a 14" barrel .

Pretty easy to do but you will need to by an appropriate bolt and then glue a smaller cylinder of hard wood inside the channel for the original bolt to a t as a stop for the head of the new bolt.
Drill the hardwood out to the diameter of the bolt's threaded section, add a washer and you are done!
