Setting up my sxp riffled barrel for the deer season. Just looking for feedback on which ammunition works well and which to stay away from. I figured Winchester ammunition would work best in a Winchester firearm. Or am I wrong?

Shotgun are usually individuals...they kinda like what they like. So you are gonna have to try a few brands of ammo and see what gives the best results. If it were me I'd start with hornady SST, Remminton accu tip and some Winchesters all 2 3/4" the 3" recoil is not worth the few extra fps. You want sabot slugs in a rifled barrels.

Some tips
Shoot slowly and methodically ( new clean target for each brand of Ammo)
Set up a good shooting bench/ platform
Use a good rest (sand bags are great)
Do every test shot/s the same for each brand of ammo.
Fire a minimum of 3 shot group per brand of ammo ( only way to determine repeatable accuracy)
Check your rig after each brand of ammo ( shotgun recoil is hell on rings, bases and scopes)

Shotgun slug testing is hard on a shooter and expensive...good luck, shoot safe and have fun.

Buy a few brands and try some... Only way to really know as every gun is different. Check the twist rate on the barrel if it has a slower twist rate like a 1 in 35 maybe try a slower slug.

I shoot hornady sst 2 3/4 out of mine with nice groups. Have heard of good success with rem acutips. Same gun as a 1300 not sure if they changed the twist rate in the barrel or not.

Remington Accutips are my choice and I have used a lot of different slug guns. Next best in my opinion would be Hornady SST's. I did find inconsistency in the Hornady from time to time between different batch numbers. I had one lot batch number that was perfect and consistent. The next lot batch order I ordered and used were ok but would not consider them uniform in their patterns. Shooter error is very low since when I do my tests they are off the bench rest and a 15 pound range stock is put on my slug gun to reduce lift and motion.
