Colt IUR 15.7 or NEA 18 DMR for accuracy ?

I am looking at accuracy compareing the 2 uppers. Has anyone done a grouping test ? 100 50 30 yards ? I understand the colt is all about accuracy and quality but not much on the NEA side beside great customer service ?

Colt Canada makes some of the best barrels in the world, if you can get one, do. They do all sorts of interesting things - forging the chamber at the same time as the rifling, choking the bore, and testing far beyond what is required. CC barrels are so good, even KAC uses them. I've heard NEA uses premium barrel blanks, but beyond that?? Incidentally, ever wonder why CC barrels end up 15.7 inches long, not 16? They tested barrels of differing lengths and found that 15.7 is an accuracy node.

I owned an 18" NEA and I would take a 20" Colt standard barrel with rifle length gas port any day. I always found that the 18" NEA seemed to be too short on the gas port at carbine length, too much length beyond the port for my taste. Just my opinion though.
 
Why would they put a carbine gas length on an 18" barrel? You'd figure mid-length for the least and rifle length as a preference no?

So who makes the NEA barrel blanks?
 
That is true, athough you'd probably have to be in the industry to have much of an opinion on the manufacturer.

But yes, the barrel blanks they used at the time that I was looped in were very, very good.

I'm not very up to date on their suppliers any more, though. I probably know more about who's buying them than what's in them.
 
The question was, which is more accurate. NEA has the potential for more accuracy with that 18" non chrome lined barrel. If the only consideration between the two is accuracy and it's only those two choices then the NEA. I would consider more than just the potential accuracy though. Others have made it clear which they prefer. I agree with what they have stated regarding the colt Canada quality.
 
if you want a dmr or mk12, might as well build your own.
youll have specific requirements as per, gas system, trigger, rail , stock, and comp anyway.
Thats what I did and it turned out great.
