I just got notification from Desert Tech that they have 2 Canadian dealers/importers. Both are sponsoring members...Ellwood Epps and Calgary Shooting Centre. I was told that the Canadian dealers should have pricing available to them in a little over a week.

Anyone have a SRS covert in 338 lapua. Looking for some real wold experience with one as to muzzle blast with the short barreled bullpup

reliable gun is importing desert tech as well now

Get a longer barrel won't be an issue. I have a custom 30" lapua on mine

Mind if I ask who made you a custom barrel? Did you import it out of the states? I want to pick up an SRS-A1 and was thinking of contacting a Canadian barrel maker, maybe Bob Jury, and see if someone up here would be able to help us with new barrels.

what is wrong with the factory barrel?, just curious

Nothing at all, most reports indicate that the factory barrels shoot great. But with the dollar where it's at it might be cheaper to buy a barrel extension and have someone up here put it together rather than import a barrel from the states.

desert tech sells the chassis and caliber kit seperately, so if. You buy a chassis and source your own barrel, where are you getting the bolt from? I would confirm if desert tech will sell seperately first.

covert rail is all of 6" shorter that the full size. It is very limiting in bipod positioning etc unless all you want are short barrels.
I bought my custom barrels in the USA had a 22" 308 and a 30" Lapua made in stainless with the twisted outer finish and custom brakes.
Desert tech factory barrels are excellent for factory barrels but they are just that and do not compare to the tolerances of a well made custom barrel.I wanted the look and finish and lengths that I wanted different from factory after all the money i was spending and to be honest the premium for the barrels i got which in my opinion cannot be compared to factory was very small, so a no brainer for me to to mention accuracy
my 22" 308 is just a few scant inches beyond the rail on the full size. And the overall is far smaller that I expected. I too was looking for a covert and am glad i was talked out of it when i saw them side by side, very minor difference of length and limiting, but Its all a matter of what u want. When you spend this much get what makes you happy.

You can buy any size bolt, the mags and barrel extensions(what the barrel threads into) all seperately from Desert Tech.

If you are using the same chassis all you need is a mag, bolt and barrel, the extension or adapter if you will is machined into the end of the barrel and is part of it so not a separate part.

I've got the covert in 338LM. I use it for moose and I like it. I do hunt with earmuffs on my head which I pull into place before firing as the blast and concussion is significant. I too hummed and hahed before deciding on the short barrel but am glad I got it. The rifle is fairly heavy but carries like it weighs less because all the weight is so close to you. The short barrel makes it very easy to negotiate the brush as well - significantly more so than I expected. I'm getting average velocities of 2870fps with very little spread with 225 gr Accubonds over 100.0 grains of Retumbo. This is 338 WM territory in a very short package and is more than adequate for my hunting needs. Also, because the weight is carried close to you, I've found I'm steadier when shooting from a seated position.
