Hi, quick question I'm hoping you guys have come across before. My rifle was sighted in, and when i took the action out of the stock for the first time. After I put it back together and took it shooting, the sight was off. I think this is due to the torque in the bolts,? What do you think/ whats your insight on the problem?

Bolt torque on action screws can have noticeable effect on group size.

Try something like 25 INCH pounds for wood, 30 for laminate, 40-65 for composite.

Can try higher setting, shoot... Back off 5 inch pounds, shoot again...

Just curious as to what gun and what configuration (wood, syn,...). I know my tikka with syn stock (cant speak for the wood) can be a bit of a pain getting the action to sit just right first try. Are you sure everything is lining up as it should?

You may just have to experiment to find the right setting. If you do so with the Wheeler torque screwdriver you will have a number for future reference. Remember that 24 inch-pounds is the same as two foot pounds.
For years I over tightened stock screws and probably damaged accuracy as a result.

its a 700 cdl, im just surprised that it had that much of an impact. I have a pillar bedding, kit on the way. creating metal to metal contact will eliminate the problem wont it?
