New to reloading

Hey guys, my first post here. I recently bought a Lee Loader (1963) to load the metric tonne of once fired .303 Br. cases I have. My question is that in the supplied loading chart, there is only one suggested powder per projectile weight. Are there no other powders to use? Example...150-180 grain=Dupont IMR 3031

There is a bit of a cross over with Dupont 4320 (projectile 170-215 grain)...but I can't seem to locate either.

Any suggestions as to alternative and available powders for the .303?
 
My suggestion is to get at least 2 reloading books. Most bullet manufacturers publish reloading books. I have the Lyman book which is awesome. I also have the Hornady book. I cross-reference them when reloading. They usually list multiple powders.
 
Hi plinker777. You need Lee part # CH1639 Lee Precision .303B Charge Table. It lists the current bullet weights and powder types that use the dipper in the loader kit. BLC(2) is my preferred powder and is currently available at several of the forum sponsors that are on the west coast. PM me and give me a day to find it, and I will scan and send the charge table from the 303br kit I bought last year. Enjoy the loading.
 
Hope u realize that u will be neck-sizing only. Range pickup brass from a rifle with more sloppy chamber will not fit after necksize only. Try them in your rifle after neck size, before seating bullet. Don't forget to check for brass length, trimming may be required.
 
One word of advise on the re-loading manuals...most of them are "their product specific" meaning that a bullet manufactured will publish a book using only their bullets but a very good representation of most powder manufactures while a powder manufacturer will publish lots of recipes using only their powder and a selection different bullet makes/sizes. You will be best served by a couple of each types from the different manufacturers.
 
Use the data from Hodgden reloading , I use h4895 for 180 gr bullets and imr 4064 for 200 gr. I also use reduced loads of h4895 for shooting cast boolits.

I suppose I didn't mention that the metric tonne of brass I have is in fact mine and not range pick up stuff. I have 2 Lee Enfields, a No4 Mk2 and a No1 MKIII. The brass has been marked as to which chamber it was fired in so my reloads will be in 2 lots for the rifles.
I've been told that the Lee Loader although slow for producing reloads with is actually ideal for this caliber due to the fact that it is only neck sized which increases case life?

Thanks guys, and a huge shout out to a gunnutter who chose not to post here but PM'd me and sent reams of information. I'll hold his confidence, but wish to publicly state the assistance he's given. (I will pay it forward brother. :cheers:)
