Butchers in Kamloops

That's a very good explanation of the requirements of Haram/Halal. Question, and not being a smart ass (I know, right) but if you shoot something through the heart it bleeds out (same could be said about the lungs or liver too I suppose but the heart is a no-brainer) is that good enough? I've read in Ruark's books about the muslim members of the camp staff having to ensure that the game meat was Halal and that sometimes they were "too dead" to properly perform the Zabiha ritual (one of the "Mohammedans" as he referred to them would accompany the hunting party to perform this ritual on animals shot for camp meat). This discussion brought my above scenario to mind and I wanted to ask.

I will quote from a proper Scholar for the next answer. Since it appears i made some small mistakes in my first. A wild animal animal needs to die from the wound inflicted. here is what the scholars say. The link has a bit more info too

http://www.askimam.org/public/question_detail/187671 ) If a person hunts an animal using a bow and arrow or a rifle, there are four essential things for the animal to be considered Halaal.
a) To recite Bismillah before or at the time of releasing the arrow or bullet.
b) The death of the animal was due to the wound caused to the animal and not due to the impact or drowning.
c) To pursue the animal once it is shot.
d) To slaughter the animal if there are traces of life in it.

If a person recites Bismillah and shoots the animal, immediately thereafter, he pursues the animal. If he retrieves it after it has already died, there is no need to slaughter it. The meat will be Halaal to consume and to give to others.
However, if he does not pursue the animal immediately or does not slaughter the animal after finding it alive, the meat will be Haraam and impermissible to give to others.

(Hidayah, vol.4, pg.510, Shirka)[1]
(Hidayah, vol.4, pg.505, Shirka)[2]
(Ad Durrul Mukhtaar, vol.6, pg.468, HM Saaeed)[3]

Hence, it is absolutely necessary to search for the animal after it is shot and to slaughter it. Not slaughtering the animal after finding it alive will render the animal Harām.
The bleeding caused by the bullet or any other sharp object will only suffice in the case when the animal was pursued and found lifeless.

2) It will be permissible to hunt Halāl birds (which cannot be caught) using a shotgun as long as the above four conditions are met.

If you shoot a deer and, due to circumstances, you cannot ensure that it is halal (say you shoot it, it runs a ways and when you follow up you find it in a creek thus unable to confirm it didn't drown) can you give it to non-Muslims? Again, not trying to overstep, just curious.

Now that is getting into tricky theoretical circumstances, in my opinion and my opinion only not based on any verse of the Quran or any Hadith. I will assess the situation and use all evidence that i have available to make my decision on halal or haram.

Most likely though if the bullet was fatal, I would assume it is fine. If the bullet was not fatal, then i would likely say no good.

Having said that I have many Muslim friends who hunt in Canada and no one I have talked to has ever had an issue. So Im not to concerned over it. Even if blood loss leads an animal to die while in a creek, due to no energy to exit it may still be fine. At any rate id cut the animal up and take it home and consult a local scholar I know who hunts in Canada. Id take his opinion on it and run with it.

AskImam.org I just used for illustration his outfit is from South Africa, So it is great for basic rulings but it is preferred to be connected with local scholars. So if a local scholar says in that circumstance its ok to give to non-Muslims the I will. Or if he says its Halal ill eat it. At any rate the Islamic Sharia is not supposed to be a brick wall, I'll make the best most logical decision I can at that time and god willing there will be no Sin on me. I cant plan for every possible scenario albeit maybe I will ask about this one (cause it does seem fairly likely)

Lots of answers here. http://www.al-islam.org/islamic-law...i-al-sistani/slaughtering-and-hunting-animals
Abdullah may want to review it as some of the answers presented conflict with what he said especially the part about Christian and Jew killed animals being halal.

These people take another position. I have not heard of this website before so I cant pass judgements on their opinions. but there are other accepted opinions.

But for myself I have christian in laws and I asked a Scholar about it specifically. So for myself it is Halal, in different circumstances for other people they may not find it so.

That the thing about fatawa's you have to get the fatawa from the right school of thought because there are 4 schools of thouggts that are accepted and from the right sect.

Even within the schools of thoughts there are differences of opinion differing from location to location and person to person.

Just quickly checked there site and.. i will not be taking fatawa from them. they look to doubtful also if they are following correct rulings they are not my school of thought

Not trying to de-rail but why can't you guys eat pork? I see you can eat other animals as long it is havested in a certain fashion. So why not pigs?

Also, I know a guy at work and he briefly talked about dog's a no-no in your culture, but in the text you provided in this thread talks about hunting with dogs. Was my co-worker mistaken?

I even heard about certain parts of the UK which has a high concentration of Muslim people have neighborhood by-laws of no dogs allowed.

Anyone I've spoken with hasn't given the airport chap much regards.
Seems he charges by the breaths he takes.
And everything he duzz is an extra.
