Any election purchase plans?

All it takes is one idiot with a gun to change that.
money and effort would be far greater spent on seeking out and helping the very few people who commit gun crimes prior to an incident occurring than to punishing every legal, legitimate gun owner as a whole for the crimes of a very few.

My buddy sent me this today. Don't know if it's his statement or not but thought I'd share.

I've been on a consolidation plan, with quality over quantity to for a while, selling thing off and getting lifetime keepers. I'm not planning any purchase or sales because of the election ... but depending on how things go, I would have made different choices if not favourable.

Just curious.
I looked at SGW and I was looking at a Aero lower in semi-auto.
Do you think that these lowers will be more difficult or impossible to find if there are changes to the gun laws.??
Thanks.

I couldn't tell you the best, necessarily...I can tell you that I personally have gone with Saskatoon Gun Works' Aero Precision lowers because I think they're very good and the price seems reasonable. Conceivably they're cheaper or better elsewhere, I don't know. I think that Questar has Spike's lowers pretty cheap. But I have absolutely no complaints about SGW's prices or service.

I've encouraged my brother (RPAL holder, no restricteds, yet) to purchase a stripped AR15 lower, as well as an inexpensive pistol (Tokarev), for exactly this reason.

I think (and I could be wrong), this would "grandfather" him into both the restricted long gun and restricted handgun categories, should it come to that.

Yes, there are flaws in my line of thought: outright confiscation, possession only/no further acquisition allowed, or even a division of restricted long guns and handguns by calibre/gauge, type of action, etc.

I'm still hopeful it won't come to that, but just in case. Or in case Justin.

Call me crazy, but a $400 "insurance policy" by purchasing these two items seems like smart move...

If the current rumour on the forum of an Australian style Firearm Bill is true, then there will be no grandfathering just confiscation hopefully with compensation.

If the just take our guns without even compensation then it will just create hundred of thousands of guns owners with a true deep hatred for them.
This will help the CPC for decades to come. Lib's and NDP are not stupid even though i disagree with most of their policies, if they take our guns there will be some form of minimum compensation.

there is no provisions in the current act for any new grandfathering.

The liberals and NDP if they get into power will be far to busy with spending huge deficits, new taxes and status quoing us all into the poor house to even begin on new firearms legislation

No legislation is needed.
Orders-in-Council do not need additional legislation.
A minority government can enact as many OiCs as a majority government.
Doesn't even interrupt the legislative timetable.

I suppose the sales of PVC pipe is going to increase.

the OIC itself (by defenition) is a form of legislation.

A minority government (as you gave example) will have a lot of touble ramming something like this through.

The cons didn't attempt it with a majority even.

All I can offer is a guess:

I would think if the Liberals get in there will be a run on stuff like this corresponding to their degree of electoral success. It'll take time before they make any legislative changes, but what won't take any time at all will be the panic that sets in about life under the LPC.

More will continue to be imported as long as the laws allow, but demand will likely increase as fears mount about long-term availability.

So personally, I'd buy sooner rather than later.

That's a guess; I have no inside information.

SGW Aero lower and parts set is ow mine.

Maybe some will.
I remember one guy at work taking all these small pieces of pipe from the scrap bin.
I asked one day what he was doing.
He owned a acreage and told me it will drive the cops crazy when they try to find any guns on my land.
They will be digging up chunks of steel till the cows come home.

Seemed like a good idea.

I doubt it, no body will stand up and resist, they'll do what they're told and hand them over like sheep.

I treated myself to a Tavor AND a Norinco M305s.

Go big or go home.

Last Conservative Majority I sprung for a carload of ammo from SFRC.

This is by far my favorite part about an Election. :) :)

The administrative cost of banning / prohibiting / re-registering, let alone confiscating / compensating all those semis and handguns will be prohibitive.
