Recommend: 11mm to Picatinny base *NOT RIMFIRE*

I have been asked to source an adapter base for a rifle with an 11mm base so standard Picatinny rings, sights and such can be installed on it. I notice there are lots of options for airgun and rimfire but I don't know what I can recommend that has the ability to stand up to years of shooting a full centerfire rifle calibre. I have a suspicion that he has acquired a Baikal IZH-94 "Express" O/U double rifle in .30-06 (see here on Baikal Canada site: http://www.baikalcanada.com/rifles_combo_94express.htm) or something very similar.

Lower is better, but the lowest adapters look like they would not stand up to the recoil of a spring powered air gun or a large rifle either.

Ironically Wanstalls has an EGW adapter when I searched CGN for info (CGN link) and wonder if it would work, or if there is something you have tried that works just as well for less than $140.00.

Any of the mounts made for the Accuracy International rifles (AW) may be an option as A.I. utilizes an 11mm integral rail on their receivers.
 
These are the best mounts I could find. They look like they will tighten down VERY positively, and are made in USA :)

I've used these before and they work well. 'Used it to mount reddot to 12g hatsan escort aimguard' They sit inside the rings and mount normally I don't remember where I picked them up but heres an example online from a quick google serch

my problem with the Chinese stuff is the soft alloy,, crappy soft alloy tension screws, and bad fit of the dovetail to the poorly machined alum adapter edge.. I find they are good for a temporary solution or a rarely used gun..

My money goes to North American manufacturers if possible.. Buy once cry once applies.

I have a pail of assorted Chinese mounts if anyone ever needs parts :)

Though it sure does seem like some gouging happens with the price of mounting hardware.. A Mosin mount costs as much as the gun
 
I have a Baikal single shot and I use a cantilever BKL that works great.

Thank you: I believe the idea was to keep some utility in the objects being mounted be it sights, red dots, scopes and such. However, it did give me another option to recommend with the following thanks to your idea!

That's the one I use.
Works well but the ring option is lower if that matters.
If the rail on your buddy's rifle is similar to my Bakail he should be able to slide it on and off and get a pretty good return to zero.
 
or you could drill and tap the existing 11mm rail on the fire arm and install the Picatinny rail of your choice on top? No issues with anything letting go that way. Conversely if you have access to a milling machine you might get away with machining a slot in the underside of the Picatinny rail to help it sit lower. sorry don't have one and a measuring stick next to the computer but you likely get the idea....

that is the king mounted on my over under express baikal 30-06.
 
Some of the adapters above promise to fit both 3/8" dovetail and 11mm dovetail. I believe that side facet angles on them are different. Personally, I would not want to compromise and get "one size fits all" product if you are looking for something sturdy and reliable.

Yes, you are driving nails now, so to speak: that is why I wanted to ask on CGN what other people have used on centerfire rifles.
