Hey everyone. I am looking at getting a T/C venture in .300win mag. I am just looking for input, good, bad, or otherwise. I have done a lot reading about tgem and the only bad thing I have come across is that the magazines are a little on the crappy side but other than that all around great rifle for the money. Thanks in advance.

I owned one in 7mm rm. solidly built rifle with very respectable accuracy by today's standards. A bit heavy but be sure there are no recalls on it. I sent mine in and got it back. Then I found out there was another. PITA. So I ended up selling it and bought a savage. Consider a weatherby vanguard s2

Had one in 270. Trigger was crap, huge creep. I had the recall done and hoped it would come back with a better trigger.... nope. I did a little work on the trigger with the adjustment screws and made it quite good.

Overall it is a solid value. Mine was at least cloverleaf accurate consistently. 0.3 and 0.4" groups from 2 of the first 3 loads I made for it.

Good Luck

Ok. Thanks guys. Next question is .300win mag or 7mm rem mag. It's primary used would be moose, but I may shoot an odd deer or bear. What do y'all think

My best buddy buys and sells a lot of rifles. His current deer gun is a Venture, in .308 Win, with the barrel cut and re-crowned at 20" and it's a tack driver. Have you considered .30-06, to cut down on the ammo cost and the felt recoil? 180gr is excellent moose medicine :)

I have Bigfoot but I am a different kind of guy if you know what I mean. All of our gang either hunting with .270, .308, or 30.06. So that is one of the reasons I want to go 7mm or .300. But I am not going to rule out 30.06. It would be less overkill for the occasional deer

I hear ya moose........ .300 Win Mag gets my vote, then. If you are at all concerned about the Venture, buy a Weatherby Vanguard S2..........you will not be disappointed :)

I have had a venture (30-06) for 4-5 years now... I had the magazine fly apart on me the first time I used it. I put it back together with epoxy, and took apart the two new ones Thompson-center sent me and put the epoxy to those too. No trouble since. Shoots great, trigger is nice... It's been a great gun to me.
