Seems like the Norc stuff works for some folks. Federal blue box was doing fine in my friend's TR out to 300m, and I've heard great stuff about the Hornady Steel Match.
What would you recommend between the 20" or the 24" barrel for both target shooting and tree stand/blind hunting? I understand there would be an 60-75 fps difference due to the barrel length, thus limiting long range shooting. I have no plan doing 1km shoot with it.
Broke down and finally picked one of these up on Friday. Added an inexpensive Bushnell scope i had lying around (managed 1.25" groups with factory ammo from an improvised rest yesterday) and this will serve well as a backup rifle for deer season before getting some upgrades next year. I think for the $$ this may be the best deal on the CDN market right now for a budget precision build/heavy hunting rifle. After comparing side by side with the Tikka CTR, I could not justify spending over 2x the price (sorry Tikka owners, but that company seems to be slipping lately) for almost no apparent gain, other than possibly cosmetics. $670 out the door during the Thanksgiving sale (Thanks SFRC!) + an additional $70USD factory mail in rebate.
Tough, inexpensive, ugly and accurate.
Perfect.

I sent in a $100 usd rebate from my fcp-HS .338 and never got the rebate, hope you have better luck than me!I was asking about this rebate?
Awesome news to share folks, amid the sad new that the Lieberals will be attacking soon, Andrea, from Savage Canada contacted me today and will be replacing my busted ass 10tr with a new one, I will likely be receiving it almost exactly one year after sending my original 10tr in for a new barrel! But who is counting, bygones, I am looking forward to getting out and driving tacks like the rest of you have been! Thanks for the support folks and irocudont for helping with email and phone#'s! I really had written this rig off!
I already hate clowns, now that you said that, eeiicchk! Will learn to post pics for sure! A small but real problem though, I got a bit carried away with the Milarm sale and bought a, 10-22, Henry .22, 2 783's, and a rem. ML. Oh yea and Why not found me a Weatherby ugly stick in .270.... So now I will have 7 rifles coming to the house at approx the same time!!! Need to send the wife on a shopping trip!
^ Hahahahah its only money my friend... I remember when I was in pink, Saved tons of cash... But hey with this new Guvment we will all be saving cash...
And I for one will not buy a single new Non-Restricted if they bring back some sort of tracking system... I will just keep buying my guns 2nd hand.
Hey did any one fire the hurtenburgers that Marstar brought in and if so how did they work? I was going to use them to get started sighting in and then the brass for reloading!
Oh man your 10tr does not like those!! Hope mine does! I have a battle pack of them!I've tried them.
Fairly lack luster in performance compared to other factory ammo and my handloads..... Averaging 3-3.5" at 100y..... Not great, but it goes boom!
Now that marstar is offering the boxer primed stuff (with free shipping) it is very good brass..... The 3 crates I bought in spring are berdan primed![]()
