Standing Offhand CHALLENGE

If Jack O'Connor was right, we will see lots of successfull posts in this thread because I know there are lots of decent shots in our midst ... and perhaps even a few great shots that will make that 6" circle look big. All that is needed is 7 shots... not six...not eight.

I doubt that. Very few will be able to match or even come close to what Dogleg just showed. And that with a .458 mag to boot. RESPECT

Remember, to have your handle recognized in the OP, you need to get out and shoot a new target with seven shots showing.

I need to go out and shoot :)
Nice friendly challenge here, I like it.
Will try with 22lr and my 10.3" AR w/ aimpoint pro ;)

A suggestion with the red dot is to have a heavy black border around a white circle ... otherwise the dot almost covers your point of aim ... Another tip ...is to ignore a tip from a guy that has tried that strategy and failed:)

I was out at the range yesterday with my m14 and nailed the 6 inch gong at 100 meters standing at will. Tried it on paper and fell apart. Wtf.

Nice day at luch so out to the range. Tried it first with the 22, didn't go so well one high and one low. 7-08 worked great (if barely in)! 7 shots, standing unsupported Model 700 CDL Bushnell Elite 4200 scope. 130gr Speer BTSP.

Awesome way to go. My own targets are a bit sickly so far

Great shooting scairns...and congrats for being the first successfull shooter in this challenge. I have included your name in the OP!

Gave it a go on Sunday. Missed out with only four inside the six inch circle. Made it on the second target, but it wasnt my paper and it already had a bullet hole in it. Next weekend I will give her another go and try and make a clean sheet.
Target 1

Target two- already had a hole in the bottom, and is missing the four inches around the outside. But better than target one.

LongBomber - your word is good! Great shooting. How about some details on the rifle. I have added your name to the OP.

We are not allowed to shoot standing to 100 yards at any of our outdoor Quebec clubs. 50 yards is the best I can do indoors. Can I join if I can shrink the target to a 3" circle?? I want to join!! Wahahahahaa :(

I shot these with a lowly savage 17hmr while I was waiting for my other rifle to cool. Just trying to find a pic of the rifle, not sure if I have a good one. Its a stainless heavy barrel with the cheap molded stockand a 10x40 bushnell tactical, but it is an acurate little shooter. Honestly it shot better groups from the bench than the loads I was testing for my new 26 nosler.

Edit-took a pic of the 17.

I think the Challenge should be left at 100, but nothing stopping you from posting your 50 yd targets. What is the deal with not being able to shoot offhand at outdoor ranges?

Started practicing for deer hunting next month. Took 7 shots free-standing, offhand with my original Winchester Model 1886 45-70 with iron sights and then went to take a look. It wasn't pretty. 5 of them were in the circle, but one clipped off the top left corner of the 8 & 1/2 x 11 paper target and the other one was an inch above the paper target. Looks like I'm going to have to do some serious practicing. Hopefully, I'll post something a little more encouraging next week.

38-55. For deer, only the first one in the circle counts:). Good luck with your practice. Offhand is something every hunter should practice!
