Can you buy .308 steel core projectiles for reloading? If so where can you get them in Canada?
Might be able to find pulled surplus bullets at a gun show or the like but I'm not aware of any commonly available components. Want them for some sort of testing/curiosity?
Could try pulling 7.62x54R steel core bullets. They could be loaded in .308 cases with the right load workup to account for the bullet being a tad bigger. Regular starting loads would be a safe starting point.
They range from .310" to .311" usually depending on place of manufacture; rarely .312". It's been done countless times with proper load development and no issues whatsoever with "overpressure failure". Unless you load too much powder in the case without properly working the load up first, you can't get overpressure.7.62x54r is actually 7.92mm which is .312, bad idea to put those in .308 barrel... just asking for overpressure failure...
Messing around with what?I was thinking of doing that. Then again it would be shot out of a .300 win mag and I don't really want to be messing around with that.
