Keymod VS Mlok. Whats the Verdict and some of the better options for both?

What kind of rail attachment method do you feel works best?

  • Keymod, I like the little phallic shaped holes.

  • Mlok, I like having a boringly shaped rail that detracts from the look of the rifle.

  • Picatinny, I like carrying around excessive weight and bulk like its still 1998.

As it's been said before, from a manufacturing point of view, M-Lok is far and away the better solution; M-Lok handguards are just going to be cheaper than their keymod counterparts once the rubber stats to hit the road on the modular rail concept.

From a manufacturing stand point, MLOK is far superior.
Superior and simplistic are 2 words that are not interchangeable.
It is more economical to manufacture due to less critical machineing steps with less critical tolerences.
This may translate into a lower price for the consumer, or higher profitability for the manufacturer.
It in no way means that the consumer will receiver a higher quality product.

I made my decision 3 years ago and I'm very happy with it.

Extra weight from 1998! Lol get out from Behind the key board an do SOME!PT! BUDS! It's an entire 7.5 lbs in all my 15 years using "Assult rifles" I have never heard a guy humping a c7 with 203 or a c9 say boy i wish this wasn't so heavy... PT it's good for ya

Keymod for me too. Only a bipod mount on the front end, then a front QD on the top picatinney rail, but I only yote hunt so I have no extra goodies that need mounting. Yet lol.

What exactly are you bolting to your key mod that you think needs this superior precision? Give me a break.

Moot point IMO. A plurality of rail accessories mount via screws as well, they aren't all secured by knobs or levers. All Keymod needs is an allen wrench and same for a lot of rail accessories. The shear savings in weight and size of the hand guard is enough to prove the case. KMR has spoiled me rotten.

I don't get the repeatability thing either. What are people mounting that would make such a feature even remotely relevant? I'm prestry sure that Foregrips, bipods, flashlights and coverings don't need to be accurately located.

IR designators are zeroed to your weapon's POI.

Uh huh, sure. Because there are SOOO many target shooters running IR designators on their paper killing "weapons". Also, please link the direct mount unit that you are using. Unless the unit mounts directly to the Keymod slot, your point is irrelevant.

Are you purposefully being obtuse or am I missing something here?

I use a PEQ 2 that mounts to picatinny but that is neither here nor there. You asked why repeatability was a ''feature even remotely relevant''. I answered why it was relevant. I could have given a multitude of different reasons why repeatability is a desired trait in a mounting platform. I frankly cannot fathom how you can detract from this obvious design advantage.

You did not specify target shooters either. However, that is irrelevant because IR designators are commonly available to whoever wants to buy one.

Even if there isn't an IR mount that attaches directly to Keymod at this time, it is only a matter of time before one does come to market. So, once again your point is sadly irrelevant.

Something is definitely missing...
