Note the kill markings - this specific F4U-5N was the victor in the final propeller-driven dogfight in history, 1969. This month's Smithsonian Air and Space magazine has a writeup on it.

what did that Honduran Coursair face in battle?

I just googled it...fasinating.

http://www.historynet.com/soccer-war-corsair.htm

Literally a 1944 dogfight that occured in 1969 over a soccer match.

A single Honduran F4U shoots down another corsair and a p51 mustang.

If one would have witnessed this in person i think one would have had to pinch themself to see if they were dreaming, or perhaps was sucked into some time vortex...

my wife's grandfather served on the Indefatigable, (rest his soul) and He showed me a bunch of photos he had of carrier ops from the south pacific. His fighting position was on one of the 20mm AA guns on the stern. I'm almost certain that there were Corsairs on the flight deck in some of the photos.

If you want to know about WW2 Luftwaffe aircraft....THIS IS THE BIBLE. 672 pages of text, drawings, B/W photos, color sketches....everything, even the wierd stuff. It was worth the $20. US I paid for it 20yrs ago.

that's not a Mosquito, looks like an Avro Anson trainer of some sort

Didn't realize the popularity of the AVG's Shark's Mouth motif with the Luftwaffe. Looks good on the Stuka and a compliment to Chennault's boys.
