So I just recently picked up a SP-01 Shadow and a Kadet 2 .22lr conversion kit as my first/second handguns. Haven't had a chance to use either of them yet but I noticed after fitting the Kadet kit to my SP-01 Shadow frame an issue with the slide stop not working working properly with the .22lr magazines.

With an empty mag inserted the slide stop does not engage and stop the slide after pulling back and releasing the slide. If I push up on the slide stop manually it will hold open the slide and if I hold back the slide manually and insert an empty mag it will push the slide stop up enough to engage when I release.

This leads me to believe the spring in the .22lr magazine is not strong enough to push up on the follower and then engage the slide stop when empty.

Anyone else have these problems and am I right in my assumption? Or maybe I just need to use it and 'work in' the spring in the magazine by loading/reloading, etc. to get it to push up on the slide stop properly.

How much have you shot yours?

I think I may have been partly correct in thinking that the mag/slide just needs to be broken in a bit for it to engage the slide stop. I hadn't shot it yet when making this thread but the slide stop seems to be engaging on the Kadet kit more regularly (70-80% of the time) for me now that I've put some rounds through it. Hopefully it gets to working 100% of the time once I get 500+ rounds through it.
 
I don't have access to mine right now, just wondering if there is an issue with it's fitment given how they do need to be fitted to the Shadows. Perhaps it's not lined up quite correctly for the slide stop to engage right?

The fitment seemed okay to me when I was examining how the magazine follower would push up on the slide stop to engage it. It just seemed like the follower wasn't going high enough on an empty mag.

But as I've said, the issue seems to be going away the more rounds I put through it (more loading and reloading of the magazine). I will keep using the same magazine and update how it progresses going forward.
