Do i have to be member of gun club for buying handgun?

From the legal stand point. Yes. You don't need a membership. That only applies to the ATT (which you can apply for at a later time)
Having said that, all CFOs use it as a carrot to hold over peoples head with their "need to satisfy the CFO as to the cause of acquiring firearm" BS.
NFA is trying to get all these denials documented for a case against them.
If you speak to a CFO tell them to put the denial in writing as to why. Also do remind them that nowhere in the provisions range membership is required for acquiring a firearm. Only to acquire the ATT

Interesting. That put's a little pickle into the works as the provisions of an ATT are now part of a RPAL. TC

The only local club around demands an RPAL in order to join so I was forced to apply without club membership.
Two weeks after sending in the application I found another but far away club that allowed me to join without the RPAL first.
Joined the newly found club but now waiting to see what will happen with the RPAL.

Interesting. Every club I have been a member of required a copy of your PAL/RPAL along with the application or they wouldn't process it. Or maybe they would start processing without and then wait to get a copy before they would issue your membership card. I had my RPAL before I joined a club so never asked how far they would let you go without the license, but they all have wanted a copy of it on file.

Actually, that's pretty much it for bad things with the BC CFO's office. I haven't heard of any intimidation of clubs, no silly range rules, no garbage of that nature - just that they want 'target shooters' to be a member of a club for target shooting with guns that can only be shot at club ranges. Not a huge deal, really. No one at any club has ever asked me for my RPAL number, they just have a sign that says it your responsibility to comply with the law or face jail.
