I'm looking at the Apex kit for my M&P45 and they offer the choice of polymer or aluminum replacement trigger, with the aluminum commanding a fair premium. Is it worth the extra ~$65 or does the polymer work just fine?

Thanks,
Mark

Polymer is prefectly fine. Note that the metal one has a more sharp edge then the polymer one.
No flex at all. Very solid feel.

I think the polymer works fine too, but the latest flat faced aluminum I have on my MP40 is great. NO any sharp edge whatsoever. Runs great. excellent upgrade for M&P

You mean besides being flat? lol

Yes indeed. I am wondering if it offers anything besides a different shape or if the shape is a huge improvement. I am not a fan of flat triggers on rifles and none of my other handguns have flat triggers so I am not sure it is worth anything extra to me. Unless there is something else I think I will go with the polymer trigger and live with that.

Thanks to all for the info.

I have the aluminum APEX trigger. I think the preference for curved or flat lies in the subjective realm. I've heard people say the flat ones ''feel lighter''. To what degree they are kidding themselves I don't know. Probably has more to do with marketing ploys than anything else.

The Apex literature says you can get a lighter pull weight with the flat trigger because you can move your finger down away from the pivot point and gain leverage whereas the curved trigger locks you into one position. Sounds pretty theoretical for my uses.

Yes. that's exactly the one I bought from Brownells.

the trigger pull on the flat faced is lighter than the curved versión(3-4lbs vs 4.0 with the silver spring as per Ápex) as the intention is to "créate a 1911-liked trigger feel" as per Ápex.
To me, it does feel close to(not exactly) the 1911 trigger and easier on the pull given the flat design that allows "touch" on the trigger, instead of the finger "hook" on the trigger, which I think it may be a personal preference.

This one?

What improvement does the flat trigger offer over the curved one?
