Joys of other wildlife viewing while hunting!

Hey that is great! Where did you see that caribou? That looks like tundra, were you North of 60?
For most of us, I guess we are not good enough with a camera to take a quick, high quality photo. Thanks for sharing yours.

Took a trip to Alaska this summer with my wife. The caribou and the moose were east of Denali National Park.

Cool pictures. You have to be outdoors to see cougars. I've seen 5 or 6 so far. Closest 20 feet away. From the Nitinat Valley on Vancouver island, the road to Barkerville and the mountains around Hudsons Hope. Scariest is seeing one chase a deer and the bounds were 30+ feet apart.

I'm impressed, I think I've seen one ever, a tawny low creature crossing a clearing accross a valley while behind the spotting scope. And I spend a lot of time in the bush between the two jobs, one aerial view to boot. You enjoyed an unbelievably rare episode and kept your cool to boot, rewarded with those photos. Digital high five.

Saw one while traveling to a hunting area, crossed the road ahead of me. Other than that on a Van Isle golf course years ago.

Coolest stuff is getting the sh@t scared out of you by a great grey like the one posted. Also remember once sitting down on a fallen poplar to eat my lunch when moose hunting. Up comes a Martin, checking me out. So i gave him a bit of boiled egg, liked that a lot, so more, egg...egg...piece of carrot. The look i got for offering carrot was priceless...i thought we were buddies, wtf is this, martin puppy dog eyes.

FujiFilm SL240. Not the best camera, but it gets the job done. One of these days I'll switch to a DSLR. I'd like to have to option of interchanging lenses.

cool I pack a Cannon sx30is 35x optical zoom :)

Took this one from must have been an easy thousand yards

That is too close for comfort!! Beautiful animal though! Good job on the Mulie too!

Here is a Bull Moose that walked to within about 75 - 80 yards of me while I was leafing over an RM Map seeking a landowner name to acquire permission to hunt geese. There was about 10,000 Canada's feeding on the field and a few thousand ducks and this fellow just came walking right on through them and kept on going, lol.

I call the first one "Moose Under Goose On Whole Grain"........he was about 400 yards. Taken with my Nikon D60SLR and a 55-300mm lens.

I was stalking up a deer trail the other day and ran into a Lynx rubbing his back in the leaves. He stopped, I stopped and kinda look at each other for 3 minutes. Good stuff, my best times in the woods are not the actual hunts, it's the tea breaks and the other encounters.

Once I was coyote calling and called in a hawk. He swooped down to take the wounded rabbit. I looked and be put the breaks on in mid air trying to figure out me.

A buddy and I had that same thing happen a number of years back but with an Owl. I can close my eyes to this day and see those talons only inches away!!

I was riding a dirt bike on a forest path when a black bear sow and new cub jumped out of the bush and started running down the path ahead of me.
I almost rode into the cub and I can still see the soles of the cub's back feet when I think of it, thirty five years later.
