To find the ammo my 7mm rem mag prefers for long range. Never had this issue before , but this year, since summer time, I am striking out everywhere I look LOL I'm down to one box and I'm gettin queezy haha.
Winchester supreme CT 160gr accubond factory loaded 7mm rem mag.
Has winchester stopped shipping ammo north or something?
Anyone else having these troubles?

I've got an elk hunting trip coming up and it's mostly 400+ yard shots required for the area I'm headed.

I've been looking for 7mm 160gr accubonds component bullets for three years now - they aren't even available to customers in the US from what I've found on the websites. Probably the same reason you aren't getting them in factory ammo.

Other sizes and weights of accubonds have become more available in recent months, so am still hoping they re-appear before my humble stash is diminished. Otherwise, 140gr TTSXs will be my plan B, they shoot very well in the two other rifles I'm running them in.

Mostly 400 yard shots required?? Get out of the truck and stalk closer...

LOL, my friend, I'm rarely found hunting from a vehicle.
In this case, the snowmobiles will be parked about 20 k from the camp and from there it's 4k trek to the top of the ridge. The elk lie in the saddle above. Occasionally luck puts them closer, but more often than not, in that usually -20 foot of crunchy snow... Very few trees or cover, you learn to forget all about the truck and learn to shoot ;)

Hmmm, maybe it's not just me then.
I've been buying boxes of the other premium loads to see if I can replicate the performance I'm used to getting from this rifle. Reloading is coming, one of those things I have all the stuff for, always plan to dive in, and never do LOL maybe this winter ;)

Seem like you have a legitimate need for a a long range shot then. I'd personally pass on shots over about 300 yards, but if you can make farther shots from field positions, good luck to you!

Off topic, but did you get anything besides wet on your moose hunt? It snowed Wednesday morning.

Ya the weather sure sucked LOL very unsettled to say the least. I think we had one day of decent weather.
No responses to calls in the usual places, minimal sign as well. Although there was lots of sign elsewhere. Seems the logging efforts are changing the moose travelling patterns in our spots. I think we either missed late rut altogether or it's already done this year. Although we did manage to find 2 young bulls dogging a cow. My hunting partners son took the bigger of the 2 and we let the other one walk away. While I am first a meat hunter, this year I was holding out for a "big" mature bull.
I've done very well this year so left my moose tag unfilled. I'll be getting my share of the bull we did harvest tho ;)
Still have a couple trips planned for mature mulie bucks and a late season Elk tag for 7-20 zone A.
I shoulda given you a hollar before heading up. We camped at the northwest end of Pinkut this year.

The locals had way less than 50% success so you did well. They did see a large number of cow/calf pairings so that is a good sign for next year.

Yes, we talked with a few of the locals. They were reporting similar. We also saw a lot of cow/calf pairings, no twins but all appeared very healthy. No shortage of food around LOL My guess, is the hauling traffic has turned a lot of big bulls nocturnal as we were finding their tracks on several days... Probably 9 different bulls, but saw hide nor hair of them all week LOL
It's the way it goes and happy to get the opportunity to have one in the crosshairs and decide not to shoot ;)

Now, back to my post, I have decided to do the reloading, just ordered 100 Nosler accubond 160 gr and 100 nosler accubond long range 175gr from cabelas. Ca
Searched high n low and was surprised to find the there LOL

Now, I just need a fellow gun nut to run into the calgary wholesale sports and buy me a box or 2 of the nosler 210gr partitions .338cal bullets(projectiles only) so I can reload for my 338federal hehehe.
Any takers? I'll make it worth yer while as they won't ship it for some reason.
