Smokin deals on Grand Power 9mm's/.22's and range reports

If anyone is still using their K22S,

I've taken mine out more now and I find that it's more reliable now with the Federal Auto Match ammo than anything else. I don't get light primer strikes with that ammo at all and no ejection issues. I picked up a box of the American Eagle .22 and the K22S really didn't like it, I kept having ejection issues with the AE stuff, normally with any other type of ammo, my K22S will have the light primer strikes but never ejection issues, but with the AE I had nothing but ejection issues and no light primer strikes.

With the Federal Auotmatch I've had a couple of stove pipes, but I think I've fixed that by only loading 9 rounds into each magazine instead of 10 and now it consistently goes bang instead of click. Overall I'm less frustrated with mine then when I first got it last year as I think I've sorted out it's quirkiness.

I'm also looking to hear any updates from anyone else who purchased the K22S and how theirs are operating after they've had them for a little bit.

Thanks

I'm quite attached to mine as well. If its clean its pretty good with federal also, otherwise CCI minimags are always to go-to.

I wish they ate assorted ammo out of the box, then I'd be recommending the heck out of GP.

And its fun to be the only one at the range- "what is that-... Beretta?"

Hey Dave,

Which federal, the automatch or the blue box stuff? Mine's been hit and miss with the Federal Blue. I would like to try some CCI AR tactical but I can't seem to find any, the same with minimags. But when i did have mini mags I think the automatch ran better

Thanks for the heads-up. I've been feeding it CCI AR Tactical. It hates everything else I've tried.

Which spring are you using in yours? I tried some CCI AR Tactical in my 22s and it really didn't like it. Glad to see we're still keeping this thread alive and haven't fully given up on our Grand Powers yet, it's been almost a year now.

I tried both. Can't remember which one worked better, but I think the heavier one was best (been so long since I fired it). The AR Tactical may be too aggressive for your light slide. I'm going to try and get to Reliable tomorrow to buy the Blazer. If my gun doesn't like it, you're welcome to try some. If it works for you, maybe we can swap ammo?

The light smaller diameter spring allowed my K22 X-trim to work with a wider variety of ammo. But I prefer to use the larger diameter heavier spring because I feel it cycles my slide faster and provides more positive seating of the slide in the cases where the round is dirty and/or has a heavy wax buildup on it (Blazer in the 525 bulk box were terrible for that).

I picked up a case of the (50x10 pack) Blazer yesterday so I'll try again on Sunday. I have the new dual spring combo of the current model pistols so I'll see how this works.

I'm going to try getting out again before the end of the month, it's been a while since I've tried the light spring so maybe I'll give that a go. Where'd you get the newer type spring from? I tried asking the GP Canada rep for one and I couldn't get one from him.

Did you get the new guide rod with that too? Apparently the new ones are the same diameter for the full length and don't have the larger diameter aluminum step in it like our 1st generation X-Trims.

I got it from the rep a while back. Not sure of current availability/policies. You can try asking on the GP forum.

No, I didn't. I wasn't aware of any changes to the guide rod.

If I keep being SOL then I'll see if ShooterReady would like another job to lighten my slide. I've got a lineup of newbies wanting to come to the range and I like starting people off with a .22LR. I really want this pistol to work.

VanMan: I owe you a beer :) I bought a case of Blazer and so far, so good! I only got a chance to fire off 100 rounds today, but it was flawless with the exception of one poor primer that required a few strikes to set off. All other rounds were perfect! Thanks again!

Glad it worked out for you Jimbo14.

It's funny, I chrono'd the American Eagle 40gr at avg 1039fps (identical to 40gr MiniMag), and Blazer was only avg 999fps, but Blazer runs great in the X-Trim. Even with the lightened slide and lighter recoil spring, the American Eagle is not nearly as reliable. Maybe it's the burn rate of the powder that makes the difference. Good thing the American Eagle runs great in my Ruger 22/45's. Had to make room for a couple of cases of Blazer though - life's tough :p

For those of you who still have a k22s or k22s xtrim I need a favour please.

I was replacing the guide rod on mine and I removed the pin for the magazine catch without thinking. Anyway can someone take a picture from the top down into the grip to show me how the magazine catch looks fully assembled? I'm not sure how the catch spring should be installed and the how the catch itself should be if the wide bit should be at the bottom or the top so a picture looking down into the grip would be great.

Thanks.
