Haven't managed to get onto any deer yet, but this mangy guy came around the corner creeping through the tall grass along the edge of the field. Had he not been mangy he would have been a fairly decent sized dog, his head was rather large

He was facing me mostly, round entered high on the shoulder didn't exit. 155 amax, I was definitely expecting an exit hole. I am super impressed with these amax bullets, I have shot a few yotes with a 6mm 105amax, no exits. As well as my deer last year at 400M no exit. Hopefully I can get into a deer with my m305 before the end of the season.

He was 165M away, first kill on the M1A platform for me.

Nice!!! Their getting to be a dime a dozen around Trenton as well. What has surprised me is the number of foxes I have spotted this fall.

Nice shooting!

That second pic reminds me of a spot I used to hunt along dwyer hill rd. wayyyyyyyy back when. Good memory jog, there. :)

This guy ate it around Micksburg. There are enough dogs in the area, I have had a very very hard time getting them to respond to calls though.
I too have seen a very large increase in the number of foxes in the area around here as well.

Nice shooting. Damn that's a well put together rifle you've got there.

Thanks for the compliment, nothing special really. She is showing her good side too, the other side has a crack that has been ground out and fixed and not repainted.
USGI fiberglass stock, it was pretty beat up when I got it, reinforced the fore end, filled the gouges and scratches. I textured the stock with some devcon putty and bedded the action (3 times before I was happy with it.) With help from chalkriver I re indexed the barrel, then shimmed the gas system. Good spring guide, tightened up the op rod guide.
I need to unitize the gas system, I am convinced my groups will shrink a lot when I get it done.

The neighbor uses dead chickens or renderings from his farm. If the calls don't bring em in I guess the invite for a free meal does...

No the farmer's dog.... Boy was he pissed.

Yeah it was a coyote, he was eating some of the apples I had thrown around in an attempt to find some deer.

Felix.NZ Thanks for the compliment on the rifle. Clean, simple and practical is sort of what I was going for, also while trying to keep the weight down a bit. I am really happy with it so far and it is becoming my favourite rifle again. If I can tune the hand loads and the rifle just a bit better it will definitely become my "go to" rifle.
I plan on installing some flush cups in the stock so it will sling better across the front.

Nice rifle and nice shooting, one less yote helps. It's deer season here right now, Some gunshots during the day, yote howls at night, Father in law saw a yote cross the road when he was out walking the dog. Kind of hot for this time of year, deer are most likely running all over the place.

Lol farmers dog...

Nice work man! Good luck with the rest of your deer season. I like that cheek riser, very sleek. I dumped my scope for irons because I haven't found a cheek rest that I like.

It is just a piece of kydex I had laying around, that I molded directly over the stock, then used velcro to attach to the stock. If you ever make it out this way get some kydex and we'll make another one.

Glock2six, A bone stock gun usually seems to shoot around 3moa, some better, some worse. After some tweaking and some hand loads this one seems to be pretty consistent around 1.5 MOA with hand loads, not consistent enough for the challenge yet, I get lots of 4/5round groups being around 1 MOA and then 1 flyer. I really want to unitize the gas system, I think it will help with the flyer.

Kaboose, I think the bullet didn't exit as the shot was almost straight on and the dog was standing, hitting it in the front of the shoulder. My buddy made an almost identical shot on a yote last winter with a 175 SMK from 60M, we found an intact, very well mushroomed bullet in the rear pelvis, it almost went end to end.
The amax having a plastic tip I think will make it even more prone to expand/ fragment.
