Are these registered as SA 15.7's or 20's?
I know the black ones at Sfrc are SA20's on the regi.

How about the 'enhanced' ones with the green furniture?
TIA

Thanks for getting back.
So are people leaving their regis as a lower only?
Folks at the CFC would not let me register as a 15.7 barrel (IUR).
Frt says 20" for the SA20.
I was surprised by this.

Cool, Ok.
I found it odd that the regi couldn't be amended to reflect any barrel length. I mean it's an AR after all.
Will be stored and transported separated.

What's also weird is we have 5 or so retailers selling 15.7 setups as 20's.

They have no laser engraved markings on them, just the maple leaf. They are all reg. as SA20.

I just received my stripped lower from SFRC, and mine is registered as a SA15.7

I really wished they would have specified it's registered as a specific model instead of «unmarked» like a regular stripped lower, which complicates things if we want to swap uppers or register it for a different barrel length.

Doesn't complicate anything. I called in to register a stripped sa15.7 build with a 20 inch barrel. They just added a child frt entry to the existing sa15.7 entry to cover the 20 inch barrel. Wasn't an issue. Did it over the phone. Mailed out the new reg cert.

The sa20 parent FRT entry currently has child entries for 508mm (20in) 5.56 barrels.

The sa15.7 parent frt entry currently has child entries for 387mm (15.7 inch) 5.56 factory, 292mm (11.5inch) 5.56 customized, and 508mm (20in) .223 customized barrels.

If you don't have one of those barrels, just call them up and tell them the new barrel length in mm. They'll add another child entry to the parent file.

Great to know, thanks!

Once they add the child entry to the registration, can you still use it with both barrel length (the factory one and the new one from the child FRT), or only the new length?

Right now I have the IUR, so being registered as a SA15.7 is perfect for me, but I plan on getting a SA20 upper later if I can find one at a reasonable price (or a IUR 20'' if they ever release it to the civilian market!).

The frt is the firearms reference table. It is a compilation of information surrounding the rcmp opinion and itemization of firearms and their legal classification.

That said, the frt isn't what makes a gun legal, the law is. The frt is not law.

Look at your registration card. It will tell you that you need to report changes in calibre, changes in the action of a gun, changes that alter the legal classification and changes to a receiver that allow it to fire a round.

What it doesn't say is changes in barrel length.

So with that in mind, change the barrel length all you want on your AR, regardless of their being an frt child entry or not.
