I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place for this post.
However I haven't found anything on CGN re: 1919s in Canada aside from the 1919a4.com forum.
I do know that NorthSylva has, in the past, imported many TNW manufactured 1919s and M37s to the country.
So there are definitely quite a few of us up here who own one.
I was hoping to start a thread so that we may share knowledge, experience and maybe even help each other out with part and accessories.
I am a newbie to the s/a 1919 world and could definitely use any and all help on the subject :50cal:
I will start by posting a few pics of the new addition to the family...and am welcoming :welcome: anyone here to join us in this thread:

As I recall the issue has been the registered part for these awkward semi-automatic rifles. Is it the trunnion block, one sidewall, both sidewalls, etc? Whatever transpired to get some into Canada, evidently fell apart when the interpretation changed. Someone closer to the conversation will have to weigh in here.

All four plates + the trunnion have to be of new and semi-auto purpose built for the RCMP to pass it, if they feel like passing it. I brought a pair up here that were built by and expert down in the US that had to go back because the difference is that for the BATF only the right side plate has to be s/a. For us, the RCMP wants to ensure that we will never ever be able to convert them back. So, as far as I know, only TNW 1919s currently have an FRT#. The other Co. that also had an FRT# have now vanished.
Thank you for tuning in maple_leaf_eh

Welcome to the fold. Small correction - your T&E mechanism is rotated 180 degrees... the vertical part past the 'hook' should be on the other side of the traverse bar. :)

I've had one for a few years now...Doesn't come out that often, but the pumpkin shoot next weekend is a must.. Still in 30-06 so she's costly to feed and I only use cloth belts, but simply had to get into reloading due to the cost. On saying that i certainly need to experiment a bit more with this. Last time out I had quite a few failures to feed. Think I need to up the load slightly....Anyone else had issues..?
Look for some spade grips as well..Nice to have those to vary the look / trigger function...

Mine is a TNW .308 model and runs flawlessly with Norinco copper washed stuff... it is HOT. Never had any FTF with this stuff.

Sold my .30-06 model for the reason you listed - too costly to shoot... I'm not reloading blasting ammo!!!

I haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet....dying!!! I need a 1919 crash course 101, waiting on a friend (head space, etc, etc...)
I am a man of the cloth as wel...Lol...and this is a TNW .308
I did import a Ohio Ordnance Spade grip. That was my next question: How to install it?
Is it as simple as removing the back plate with pistol grip and replacing with spade? Or.....?

Where did you buy your cloth belt?

I hope mine will perform as smoothly as yours canucklehead. I did hear that TNW does make a solid 1919.

Nice....308 is the way to go.
There's a few decent videos on you tube regarding headspacing. Take a look at a few of these, get a feel for it and you should be able to figure out how to do this quite easily.
The spade grips are relatively simple to fit but again you tube has a few instructional videos. There is a set way of doing this and its a lot easier to view a vid than me trying to explain it, but essentially yes, remove the existing back plate and replace.

The cloth belts I have picked up a various local gun shows. A number of suppliers down in the states have them as well. BMG parts being one. Now loading the belts is a whole other subject...:)

I wasn't able to find any vids on spade grip replacement yet! maybe I'm not looking hard enough.
I did find head spacing + field stripping and other instructional vids tho. Feels as though I should have a veteran with me for the first time shooting it...Lol.
Yes, I believe the cloth belts are no issue shipping to us from the U.S
Guns shows a good idea!!!
Found a guy on 1919a4.com for a single style loader, but getting it up here would require the whole import headache.
I have done many of those for myself and friends...perhaps if I get enough interest for these, I should just bring a bunch in ?!?

I bought 2 spade grips from IRUNGUNS, made by OHIO Ordnance and they did not fit the TNW. IIRC there was a gap between the spade actuator and trigger and I got it to work by fitting a large nut to take up the space. I'd have to take a look to see how I got it stay in place but it worked flawlessly. I did it to my TNW 308 and 30-06, have since sold the 30-06. I still have another 30-06 but using the metal stock instead, with a scope mount and scope it shoots like a rifle. I have the ground mounts but prefer the MG42 AA tripod with adapter so I can sit on a chair, bit more comfortable. When they were available they cost around $5500 for the gun and ground mount. BTW the 308 will only work with cloth belts, metal links will kink because of the shorter cartridge length. Metal links and cloth belts work with 30-06. I have both the single stage loader for metal links and the hand crank loader for cloth belts (30-06). For 308 I use my fingers to load the cloth belts. YouTube has an exc vid on headspacing, very easy to do.

Hi Katazone, could you elaborate on that? Because my friend had bought USO 1919 from I run guns I believe and he had another one ohio rapid fire I think both had FRT before and brought in by the importers, does that mean he now has a prohibit? when did that happen?
