PSA- Palmetto State Armoury 7.62x39mm 10.5" Upper

I also bought one of the shorter 7" uppers, initial feeling straight out of the box was well made and great value for the price. After my first range test with it, feeling of greet value was even stronger. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone else, and I cant see the 10.5" being any different

I did a short review a while back here:

Sorry the photos are gone - I dumped my album in anticipation of moving away from photobucket.
All they are really showing is 10 round groups on IDPA targets shot at 100m

Overall the PSA guns are exceptional value for money spent, and IRG are excellent to deal with.
I have zero interest in revisiting the VZ with this thing around.

I'd like it in 14.5 ------------------------- but,-----seems that the max length offered by IRG, so there ya go!
Maybe next time!

any more user feedback on these PSA x39 uppers?
There's one waiting for me on my desk when I get home sometime around Christmas LOL
itchin to try it out.

I have one in 7", didn't like Dominion Non-Corrosive at all, would not eject (Bolt Assembly issue) It was also picky on some surplus, but ejected MFS steel case with no issue.

Ordered an LMT Enhanced Bolt Assembly, and while I haven't seen able to run it yet, it ejects fine now through manual cycling.

Fit and finish, it's a great little unit, and mounts fairly solid on both my Spikes and NEAP lower. Can't wait to get back to the range and blast off a few rounds.

Tested my 10.5 on an Olympic Arms Milspec lower last week, about 60 rds--NO problems excepting always failing to feed exactly on the 2nd last round from an ASC 5/30 mag ( only had 1 with me that range day).
Looks like the mag follower or lips of a particular ASC Mag are causing the 2nd last round to point a bit higher angle than the others causing the FTF. A bit of dicking around with the mag should be an easy fix though.
Fit & finish is Milspec quality . Happy with my purchase -- especially shooting the poor man's 300 Blackout !!

I got one of the 4th batch ones. I mounted it on a stock Norc CQ-A lower from several years ago. Been to the range once so far, ran 85 rounds of the copper washed Chinese surplus through XCR pistol mags without a hitch. I mounted a TRS-25 red dot and got very respectable groups.

The black on both targets is a bit over 5". Biggest problem I had was seeing any black at 100yds with the 4MOA dot covering everything. With a more precise optic I am sure the 100yd group would be 1/2"-3/4" smaller.

Quick question. Since this is on my shopping list....

Does this take a variety of Magazines? Meaning I understand XCR ones work. But anything else ie Magpul AK mags, etc.? It's not like STANAG specs came in 7.62 X 39 for ARs....

Had some issues with mine on ASC 30 rounders, failed to feed a fourth round off each mag. I have some XRC mags coming and hopefully that will solve the mag issue. I also found the new production Chinese ammo won't work, it fails to extract taking a chunk of case rim each time. Seems the metal is softer, wolf ammo works fine.

Considering 10.5" BBL.s , & the ammo ---They are very respectable groups !!
Shows promise !

Haven't had a chance yet to take apart the problem mag. Thinking follower height ,feed lip , or spring issues from the f###ing rivet.

So,---- anyone with a tried & true recipe mod for these hit or miss ASC mags.
Having paid good money for these , like to see them work as good as they look.

AK mags won't work, they have to be STANAG standard to fit into an AR lower. From the sound of things the XCR pistol mags seem to be the best bet at the moment.

A fellow PSA 7.62 owner , & myself tested 4 New XCR mags made by ASC last week ( same folks who supplied the 5/30 rounders which came with the uppers)
They worked absolutely flawlessly w/ zero FTFs' for about 400 rds between us on each of our uppers .
Happy beyond description!!
Still haven't had a chance to have close look to isolate the ASC 5/30 rd. issues .
