Started with Troy and now have Magpul Pro. I like the Magpul much better....plus I will never own anything Troy again due to some of their business practices.

I have Troy and will never look for something else...period
..if you have a front sight post with Picatinny not recommended to be used the plastic Magpul because of the heat

The Magpul Pro's are an all metal design and what I choose recently. Am happy, but have not used Troy's so can't speak regarding their use.

Cheers D

got the troy battle sight on my xcr-l in fact they come with , the only thing i dont like is the front post a little too big for my taste , otherwise i like them !

I think they're all that fat. KNS has a front sight post kit that has everything from super skinny to pointed etc but I don't want to blow $30 for an assorted pack that I only need one. Brownells used to sell them individually but stopped. I'm tempted to chuck a spare sight post up on my drill press and put a round file to it to make it a little thinner.

Ditto here. They hired 2 well-known sociopaths. 1 anti-gun zealot, and the other an accomplice to murder.

As for the sights themselves, the Magpul's are lower profile, less clunky and easier to adjust.
No contest in favour of Magpul PROs.

edit: thought the links were to the product reviews.

at the risk of high jacking the thread, i do want to say, it appears even the guys in the states have gotten over the poor hiring practices of Troy in the past. Given we dont have the same 2nd amendment right to defend, maybe we should get back to basics and decide if the company's products are good. ps. i am all for your choice TO, or NOT TO, support this company.

any thoughts on how the troy locks up and magpul can fold back down if bumped?

The Magpul Pros lock-up pretty good considering they only have ball-socket spring locks. They could be knocked down with the strong enough impact but that impact would probably damage a proper locking sight. With the pros, you might be able to stand them back up, where as other sights may not be usable after an equal impact.

I am very happy with the Magpul Pros for BUS.

I have owned both and I prefer the Magpul Pros for a couple reasons, first the rear sight profile is narrower and doesn't hang over the edge of the receiver and second, the height of the front post is adjustable without any tools.

Troy Battle Sights is what I have with HK front. Only thing I don't like is that the lettering is not white on both. And, the sight does not fold flat when using the small aperture.

Troy's lock up tight and no way you can bump them down by accident.

Same here, sold off all my Troy products and will never own another.

It isn't about forgetting, most people haven't a clue what went on and are too lazy to do a little research and find out. Troy lied to the public about hiring an anti gun moron, then failed to release him after the public made it clear they knew who he was and what he was about. The hiring of the second sniper from the Ruby Ridge BS event was simply the nail in the coffin. For those who don't want to spend 20 minutes reading the details here they are in a nutshell.

Troy hires anti gun former police chief Jody Weis.
They claim he doesn't work for Troy, but he was hired to work at Troy Asymmetric which is Troy Industries training division.
Troy get's caught lying and eventually lets the POS go.
A short time later it is revealed that Dale Monroe is employed by Troy, Dale is a former FBI sniper and was the number two guy or backup sniper for the Ruby Ridge incident. Dale's then partner Lon Horiuchi was the primary shooter and the one who shot Randy Weaver's wife Vicki while she was holding their infant child. She died.. Lon Horiuchi is now employed by HS Precision, yes that HS Precision. Another company who's products I sold off and will never own again.

I don't see the tool less adjustable front sight as a big deal. How often are you adjusting your front sight?

The large aperture is the default by design. Should you need your BUIS in a hurry the large aperture provides a faster sight picture than the small aperture. These sights were designed for combat effective hits on humans by MIL and LE users. There is no race to flip up your sights at the range, so having to select the small aperture isn't a problem.

I have both Troy DOA and Magpul Pro. I like them both for different reasons... the square shape of the DOA draws my eye in well, and they are quite fast and accurate to use. The Magpul Pro is nice as they will fold if caught/hit instead of bend or break.

IMHO 6 of one, half a dozen of the other...

I loved my Magpul Pros. I will also jump on the Troy hate bandwagon. #### those guys.

Drama aside, the Troy Battle Sights are the gold standard BUIS in terms of robustness, accuracy, repeatability and cost. I actually like 'em much better than even the far more expensive BUIS like KAC. And while Magpul does a lot of things really well, I'd never choose their sights when Troy was on the table.

Not saying that there's anything wrong with it. It's just something I just noticed one day dinkin' around with it.

It's not just drama, it's integrity.

Correction: Troy's were the gold standard BUIS. The market has moved on, and Magpul MBUS Pro's have, in my opinion, improved upon Troy's offering, with the added bonus of not being 2nd Amendment saboteurs.
KAC's BUIS are amazing, but the price is the deal-breaker for me.

That "drama" was a witch hunt over a half inch in stock length that resulted in Vicki Weaver and a family friend being murdered by federal agents. None of which were disciplined for it, in fact Lon Horiuchi was promoted after he murdered Vicki Weaver. If buying products from a company that openly condones this behaviour is something you're comfortable with then please don't complain when you or your family are the victims of an unjustified investigation that may result in the death of a loved one.

I noticed it as well on the Troy's I had. Kind of tough to offer the option of either aperture when they're built in the "L" shape.

Don't forget Jody Weis, Chicago Superintendent of Police, and prolific gun control zealot.
